I recently came across the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, when I was in search of (some) meaning behind my relationship patterns. MBTI mainly measures 'psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions'.

Once I took the test (online) it became quite apparent why I tend to be the way I am in relationships or social settings, that is, very select few captivate my interest.

As it turns out I have an INTJ personality. The fact that approximately 1 % of the population possess this personality type, only reinforces it's rarity but not only that, the pressure associated with such a personality.

INTJ: Introverted

iNtuitive

Thinkers

Judges

Introverted does not necessarily mean shy and quite. INTJ's can talk quite a bit - but not of anything of their personal nature. They keep private things entirely private

iNtuitive - ability to immediately understand something. They are idea people who can see many different possibilities. They come up with uniquee solutions to complex problems.

Thinkers - INTJ are very analytical. They are extremely busy (mentally) even when they are not doing anything. Their minds are always working on some theory or complex problem.

Judge - if you ask an INTJ their opinion about something, do not be horrified when they are brutally honest. Honesty is what you will get - even if it isn't really what you wanted.

INTJ personalities are not huggy feely people. Group hugs offend them and team building is often looked on as a waste of time. They can be extremely good team leaders although prefer to work behind the scenes - if there is a team leader they can respect.

INTJ are extremely logical minded and rarely speak unless they know something to be a fact - unless they are throwing something out to get a reaction.

Often INTJ are mistaken as arrogant when they are actually self confident - they know what they know and, more importantly know what they do not know and keep their mouths shut about things they do not know.

If you do not make sense or are make a lot of small talk, it will be difficult to get along with a INTJ personality very well. INTJ's have little patience for chit chat over nothing and they expect others to be as logical as they are. This said, they are EXTREMELY loyal people and are more than willing to work at a relationship even though they lack natural empathy that Feeling type people have.

(Taken from eHow: How to Understand Someone with an INTJ Personality Type)

Very fascinating stuff. Seems to describe me to a T (more or less).

You can take the test at: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes1.htm

Bf is INTJ. Frankly, I can see why such people might have difficulty building relationships with the majority of the population. Fortunately for him, I am INTP, so I pretty much get it. ;)

I posted in a thread about this last year. INTJ for me.

lol I posted a thread about this today. ENTP.

Ha, answered this on the other thread but I am right on the cusp of INTP and INTJ. I've fluxed between those two types for years.

I personally think that, for me at least, the results of tests like this depend on WHO I'm thinking about when I answer the questions that are based on social interaction.

Even though I'm an extremely strong I, and a relatively strong N and P, I fluctuate between F and T. Basically, when I answer questions related to social stuff based on how I am with my romantic relationships, I'll be an F. Whereas, if I answer based on how I interact with platonic Rs, I'm a T. It doesn't fluctuate TOO much, probably by 5-10% or so, but enough to tip the scale.

INFP all the way (as I suspect many here are.)

The ratio of I to E around here would be very interesting.

INFP, Dreamers for the WIN!

(You don't necessarily pair best with your same type. But Ns generally go with Ns and Ss with Ss. I <3 other NFs)

The BF and I are both INFP. It makes for an interesting relationship for sure. On one hand we really get each other, on the other hand we have a tendency to not function in reality. :lmao:

Usually we come off as that lovey dovey off in space couple. :)

I could never imagine dating a E. It'd get quite tiresome, methinks. ;)

Previous bf was ISTP. Don't recall the other one.

I don't think I could ever date an E or an F myself. I would not be very compatible with them.

Interesting. I use to always be an I.

I came up with ENTJ

What is the personality type for the people who think this test is just too long?

Posted

INTJs FTW!!!

Funny how we're only 2% of the population, but are quite common around here! :p

INFJ here, but when I'm happy I flip to ENFP.

My friend, who is a die hard INTJ turned me on to the Myers-Briggs. I call him Spock sometimes because of his strict adherence to logic, but I love him to death.

INTP here. Now time to go read up on what that actually means.

It is really beyond me how all the descriptions are so spot on. It really doesn't make any sense at all.

INFP here.

Has anyone taken the Keirsey temperament test? They seem to have their own test/archetypes but incorporate some of the Myers-Briggs letters. I really like it:

To take the test:

I scored as an Idealist-Healer on that one.

I just took it and I'm: Rational - not everyone I know would say that, haha.

Almost everyone is an N so far. I'd imagine S's wouldn't be as into forums as much?

fwiw I'm also ENTJ. Someone was that earlier.

Dreamer.. nuthin' but a dreamer. :D

ENFP and sometimes INFP myself. Tried a relationship with an ESFP.. too much conflict and criticism which I prefer to avoid.

How strange!

I took this test "again" and I didn't even remember seeing these questions before and I got the same exact result: ISFP

Also previously my S was only 1%, and in the second test I got 1% as well. :)

Almost everyone is an I, too, which really makes sense. ;)
