ilovedogs21
I just recently got offered a job in my field, but I have only been at my current job for a few weeks. I am afraid if I quit they will go slander me to my former employers. The company I am currently at has about 1300 employees. I am just a customer service rep. Do you think they would do that? JamesM
Not if you handle it appropriately and don't burn any bridges as you give your resignation. Give your current employer time to replace you and tell them that it is not because you do not like your job, but it is that this new offer is an opportunity for you to build your desired career. But leave on good terms. You may need them later as a reference. Of course, they may be disappointed, hurt, or even a little angry. They are adults and they understand. It is how you handle it that makes the difference in how they view you.
Brooklynkid
Ditto that. That is the exact right way to handle it. Just be upfront and honest, while diplomatic at the same time.
