Career Changes...

Just to let you all know...

I've been going on interviews for instructing and counseling positions working with indviduals with developmental disabilties.

I've always had an interest in pursuing this field. Given my circumstances, maybe this is the time to make a career change and see what happens.

I'm hoping to land one job which I'm interviewing for right now. The salary at the others were extremely low. Low enough where even if i got a second job, I couldn't make ends meat. Although I was willing to take the low paying jobs, my husband and I could not financially swing that. This one job that I'm going for a second interview tomorrow, I hope works out. The pay is low, but it's a livable salary.

Say your prayers. I need something to work out. I've had too much tough luck!

Thanks a bunch, BO!

How's your job going? What type of work are you doing now?

Hope all is well :)

My job is ok. I'm doing seasonal tax work right now. Proofreading tax returns. Not the most fun in the world but it's all in my attitude. Plus the whole temping thing is easier on me. I can endure almost anything if I know that it's temporary.

sounds cool, BO!

Yeah, my last lay-off, I considered temping because I thought maybe I was just finding companies that were not a "good fit".

Granted, I believe some jobs may not work out because of that. You definetly need to fit in or it could cost you your job. However, I see this last failure at my job as someone trying to tell me I shouldn't be doing this type of work at all. It looks like I may get this job where I would be a Day Habilitation Specialist in a classroom, teaching people with disabilties how to become independent so they can get jobs and live on their own. I would be teaching them how to budget money, work with people, etc, etc. It may be good, it may not. But now is definetly the time to experiment. Yeah, I'm married, but I have no kids, so now is the time where I could be risky and do something different and see if this is what I'm supposed to be doing with my career.

I hope things work out.

I salute your attitude - when you're not happy with your career status, you think of making a change, which will ultimately lead to a progress.

Low enough where even if i got a second job, I couldn't make ends meat.
Well, it would depend on how much money the second job brings, wouldn't it?

I hope your wishes come true and perhaps you can climb up to a better position and have a better income with time. Nonetheless, I suggest you don't settle for a low pay if you have the potential to make more. On the one hand, having a job that you enjoy is really rewarding, but on the other hand, making good money might also make you happy if the difference in salary between doing what you like and doing what you don't like is significant.

Your job has a lot of potential: you can make deals with people - they pay less taxes and you sign it as "OK." :D You can make a lot of money like that! ;)

So what are your long-term career goals if this is just temporary? :)
