What's going through his mind?

Hello everyone!

So I have met this man on Tinder, we talked for a bit and I told him I was just on Tinder to meet people and make friends as I have just moved to a new area.

We talked on Tinder on and off for two weeks then he asked me for my snapchat. We then started talking there but mostly small talk or sarcasm, we would send each other funny selfies back and forth and small talk for about a month now. He initiates it most of the time, but never takes it further, he never asked to meet. I once told him that it would be cool to get to know him better and he replied with "sassy pants" which I didn't quite understand.

This man intrigues me and I would like to get to know him better and eventually be friends. We never flirt or anything, conversation flows very naturally, mellow and "platonic". I'm not sure if he is interested but I think he likes me a minimum, though he never compliments me (he told me I was cute once but I know he finds me attractive) nor tries to get to know me further. I'm very independent, educated and I have a successful career but him on the other hand works in a retail store and still lives with his parents.. could he be intimidated because of this?

What's going through his mind?

Thank you in advance.

i really don't know what's going thru his mind but what's going thru mine is that

he's playing a game with you and not giving you any compliments is a tactic, which is working.

an independent, educated, hardworking, beautiful women is worried that some dick from tinder, doesn't like her, doesn't think she enough?!

leave him to mommy and move on.

you can do better. take it from me, i'm rarely wrong.

I don't know what's going through his, but he is probably also wondering what's going through yours.

People don't use dating sites, much less hookup apps, to make friends. Using a dating site or hookup app means you're going to be "making friends" with guys only, and exchanging messages and potentially meeting them in an environment which is designed for dating or hooking up.

He is there for the app's intended purpose which is to get dates. I think most likely he is trying to make the best of the awkward situation he finds himself in. Meeting someone he finds attractive on a dating app, and being hold she's not there for dates or hookups. He doesn't know how to proceed. You told him you just wanted to be friends so he is keeping you at arms length. The way I see it you have 2 options: say that you'd like to meet him, or just give up on him. He's unlikely to make a move since you already told him you're not interested in him romantically.

I don't know why but my first thought was that he might be married or attached and is just chatting for the fun of it. He does not seem driven to seek a relationship. I get the feeling he is just keeping you there like a toy in his pocket, something to amuse him when he is bored. I could be completely wrong of course.
