Herbalist Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 A couple days ago I made a throw away account on OKCupid. No details, no photo, no Q&A stuff, but I had to write a mandatory number of characters in the "about me" box so I just strung together random letters. I just wanted to browse my area, was curious. I deliberately didn't add a photo (not even a fake one) since most sites let people search by "has photo only" or something similar, so to make it easy for everyone to bypass my profile while I was browsing. In spite of all this, in 2 days my profile has been "liked" over 200 times, and I have received over 30 messages, including guys calling me a goddess or informing me that they want me to be their girlfriend, or trying to arrange a date. The gibberish in my "about me" section looks like Cthulhu wrote it, and I've also received some comments about how they like what they read in my profile. I'm pretty sure a potato could get a date online if their profile simply says it is a female potato. 2
oldbutcurious Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 they are mostly bots or spammers from other sites. 1
