The Match.com Chat feature

Recommended Posts

Anyone had luck with it, as a means to elicit a response that may not come about via their "email" ?

I tried one today, it held me about 20 seconds, then told me they were "Busy." ha, ha.

It worked off/on when I was on that site a couple of years ago. They can ignore that form of contact the same as the ignore an email. :)

Yea, I had one declare "busy," and another "Timed out." So it seems to do little for me. I guess only 5% have the feature, the rules always change, but I'll stick to semi-formal text messages, not chat. Not digging it...

Hate to bump an old thread, but does anyone have any real experience with Match.com?

I'm not a technophobe or anything, and I'm internet savvy, but I find the site to be really confusing with what level of memberships can perform various functions.

For example:

Can people who aren't paying members read/respond to messages from a paying member?

How do you tell who's a paying member?

I mean hell, I don't want to be "that guy" on there, but damn if it isn't difficult and rather shady.

None paying members cannot see who has viewed their profile, or read any incoming messages. You cannot tell who is paid up or free.

I have recently given up with Match.com due to it's buggy and limited app, not to mention the conning differences in membership levels which are just too expensive. Like you say it's hard to tell what you can and can't see/do without paying a premium.

The most expensive membership is the only way to achieve full functionality and to allow free members to message you back. Even then I still don't think they can read your email in the first place.

The biggest con is as soon as your subscription runs out, your profile receives lots of views/winks, etc... Which you can't see because you aren't payed up. So you give in pay up to find they are all women you have no interest in and then the activity drops to normal levels again. I have tried this experiment a few times and it's always the same.

Sure enough when my subs expire at the end of this month my profile will receive lots of hits, only this time I'm not wasting my money to see them.
