Pulling women into the pool

It's summer and pool parties are abound. I've noticed a good amount of men attempt, usually while they are themselves already in the pool...will see the ladies dangling their feet in the water...come over...and say, "Looks like you like to get wet!"

And attempts to pull one of the ladies into the water.

Good or bad move? Yes or No? Depends on the woman.

Granted...let's say everyone at the pool party are already pretty much already know each other. But, I've known some women to get a bit irrate about it, something about messing up their hair or simply not wanting to get wet or whatever reason.

This is something I typically err on the side of caution of as I'm not that much of a risk taker, but seriously...some women end up laughing and having a good time of it and not be stick in the muds about it either.

Thoughts on this?

I can only speak as to my OWN reactions:

- i think it depends on what she is wearing (if she is in bathingsuit, Ok, if she's wearing clothes, absolutely do NOT do it.... unless you know her well and know she won't be mad)

- depends on how well you know her. is she humorless and will get pissed? don't do it. not sure? err on the side of caution.

- depends on your relationship with her.

If it's a pool party AND the woman is already wearing a bathing suit AND there is already some light banter going on and she enjoys it then yes. If a total stranger would suddenly invade my personal space like this I would be irritated.

Also, never do that when the woman has clothes on. It's only fun in the movies. People have phones in their pockets, ladies usually have makeup and nobody carries another set of clothes just in case. I would be furious if someone would pull me into pool with my clothes on.

I would only do that with someone I was very close friends with who had already been in the water in the clothes they are currently wearing at their own will that day.

Otherwise, bad idea.

Let me re-ask the question. "If a woman was already in a bathing suit, it then be cool?"

Okay, let's just say they have their bathing suit on. Guys are like "Come on, you already have a suit on! Might as well!" But they still want to protect their hair. It kind of baffles the men why would a woman wear a suit/bikini, but not want to get in the water.

Forgive me, but this question is a bit banal... it sounds like you're bored and just thinking up topics to write, just to pass the time...?

Swimsuit + elaborate hairdo = there to sunbathe and socially network.

Swimsuit + nondescript hairdo (possibly already having been wet) = there for a fun pool party and fair go.

sorted.

Hardly banal, as this is a legitimate question. I just noticed instead of using a line with a woman, this is their way of taking it up a notch.

Well, if you go by my appraisal, then you shouldn't go wrong.

It also depends whether she's engaged in a discussion with someone and what the topic is.

If she's with a BF, discussing his mother's bitchy attitude towards her, best leave well alone.

If it's 'my friend Sue uses factor 30 and doesn't know why' that wouldn't be so bad....

I have never been to a pool party, so I'm giving you hypotheses....I don't live in a county where pool parties are all that common, unless you have the money to match owning a property that would permit such an event to take place...

And I don't know anyone of that ilk, either...

How the other half live....!

1. The water is too cold/warm

2. Has a medical reason to avoid swimming that you don't know about (ear infection is a common one)

3. Going somewhere after this and needs to keep hair dry

4. Doesn't feel like swimming

5. Can't swim

6. Just wants to sit in the sun

7. ????

Unless you know her very well, and know that she'd like it, let her decide if and how she wishes to get into the pool.

I'd never do this... ever in my life.

Seems so stupid and the types of girls I go for and get into relationships with wouldn't want me to, either.

The pool parties I go to are pretty exclusive/fancy, at rooftop and beach side hotels, so if people go swimming at all (I always do..lol), they do so of their own accord.

I thought of another reason. Sometimes if I have my period, I'll wear a thin panty liner in my suit as back-up for an internal menstrual product. That panty liner stops working if it gets wet

Sounds like crap boys do and men don't....

So which are you???

TFY

I've never done this, just watched "boys" attempt to do it though. I actually think it depends on the level of alcohol the women had consumed, they are more okay with it after they've had a few.

So now you know: The general consensus of opinion is that you're more of a jerk if you do it. Best keep to the safe and nice side of ladies by not being the juvenile....

What's the difference between a guy doing it to another guy, as opposed to doing it to a lady?

Not me, most of the pool parties I go to have a vollyball net set up and people are playing volley ball. Very casual.

Sounds like a frat boy thing to do in general.

Really general question so it's hard to say anything universal but I can tell you if I was sitting at the edge of a pool, even in a bathing suit, and some random guy who didn't have any privileges w/me pulled me in, I'd punch him in the head.

Well, typically women in our circle don't get violent....they just pull away and say, "Nooooo!" and he'll stop..that's pretty much it, he doesn't further aggravate the situation.

But this one guy was the host of the party (his home), so perhaps that's why he didn't get punched in the head. But most everyone at the party had known him for years.

I absolutely love swimming and am a fairly decent swimmer. However if someone other than my family or a very close friend did this, I'd be livid. It's a violation of personal space and I would probably punch whoever did it.

I would be LIVID.

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time at my mom's godparents' house, which had a pool. One time, the next door neighbour was with us and she asked me to push her into the pool. She pulled me in with her. I didn't know how to swim yet (I was about 4) and didn't have my swimming arm bands on. I can't express how terrified I was and I never went anywhere NEAR that neighbour (a grown woman!) after that incident.

So that kind of thing triggers a violent response in me. Doesn't matter WHO tries to do it, if you do it without my EXPRESS permission, we're going to fall out.

Don't do it.

This might be acceptable if you are a middle school boy who shows he likes a girl by being annoying: pulling her hair, pinching her, throwing stuff at her or pulling her into a pool, but if you are an adult, no.

If a woman isn't in the pull it's because she doesn't want to be in it and I'd be very annoyed if someone did this to me and I think it has A LOT higher chance of this not going well than going well. I mean...sorry...this is on the BOTTOM of the list of flirtatious moves for men over 14.

In search of pulling women into the pool:

Pretty sure that borders on assault, if it isn't completely. Granted, I'm a guy, but I had a dudebro some years ago threaten to throw me in a pool at a pool party because I was "dressed too nice" or some nonsense. I brushed back my jacket and mentioned I get cranky when my gun gets wet. That was the end of that.

Some "random" girl could be the cousin of a gang banger, or ex-Navy SEAL, etc., and she could have enough of a temper to get you on the list. Moral of the story: Don't mess with people you don't know their disposition or associations. It baffles me why people think they can pull this kind of stuff in our world.

If anything was to push me to the brink of wanting to punch a person's lights out, pulling me into water- especially COLD water would be it.

It's stupid and childish. What kind of a topic is this?

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I must agree. If you're over 14 this shouldn't even be something you need to crowd source answers for. Just no. Closed case. I don't even know why anyone would consider it tbh.

If the woman is already your gf/wife/date and you know she won't mind, great. Otherwise, there are 489657452734 better ways to flirt or be playful than that. Even if my bf did this to me I'd be mad. If I'm not currently in the pool and am just sitting on the edge, it's obvious I have chosen not to be in the pool, so pulling me in against my will will only make me annoyed at best and livid at worse.
