Hi,

I’ve been single for a long time. Long term relationship ended and i just never met anyone i liked. Until now that is. And it’s been several years.

So this girl works in a sandwich shop i go to regularly. Shes worked there a long time but just recently she started to talk to me. Ask me what i do for work and tell me things about her life that go beyond the normal “Nice day” sort of chat. That’s usually a good sign isn’t it?

She’s younger than me. Not sure by how much. But I thought it was unlikely she would be interested in me. Still when you like someone you pay more attention to how they look and i think she started wearing eye makeup that she normally didn’t. Of course she could have been trying to impress someone else. When you’ve been single a long time you start to talk yourself out of things in your head before you get anywhere.

So i just kept going there as normal. Thought i’d wait for a little more depth of conversation or something. Not really sure what. That didn’t happen. What did happen is that she became oddly hostile. Not all the time though. There’s another girl that works there. She’s like a Bond girl. Tall, blond, blue eyes, foreign accent. She’s also fun and i find her much easier to talk to. Probably because I’m not interested in her in the same way. I’ve noticed though that the one i AM interested in will be nice on the days where im talking to the Bond girl. She goes out of her way to insert herself into the conversation. Even takes over the transaction.

The weirdest part of it is that i SHOULD be interested in the Bond girl (I’d be punching well above my weight though). The other one is freakishly skinny, has a really weird haircut, and appears to be exceptionally moody.

So now it’s reached the stage where she doesn’t even look at me when i go past (Her shop is in a garage). On the odd occasion she does look at me when i’m getting served by one of the others it’s with a kind of mild distain. It’s a look that makes me feel like one of those weirdoes that is making unwanted advances. But I’m DEFINITLY not doing that. I’ve just gone and got my usual sandwiches and my usual times and i’ve not said much more than i normally would.

So what the hell is going on?

She probably got disgusted because everyone was paying attention to the same girl, the Bond girl. It doesn't take women long to notice that and then they conclude that all the guy cares about is unnaturally beautiful women. Sounds like you probably blew your chance with the one who might have been interested in you if you hadn't had wandering eye. Hah. Oh, well, next time.

I disagree with these other posters, they're clueless.

Originally, she was, relatively speaking, friendly and engaging. Over time, she'd became cold and distant for no apparent reason.

She's now only vaguely "interested" when you express what she perceives to be your OWN interest, or better yet, your ATTENTION, bottom line, elsewhere.

To me, it's like sculpting a beautiful vase that people would generally pay good money for, asking one girl about it and her not expressing any interest originally, only for her to eventually run over, ripping it out of your hands, and throw it against the wall when you go over to another seemingly more interested, positive buyer.

I don't see why a guy would EVER act as if a female like that is the only person in the room. They're obviously the least
