I like this guy a lot. He says he likes me too and we've gone out on several lovely dates and we talk on the phone or text nearly everyday. We've been talking romantically since February and we get along quite well. He says we're friend's but he's kissed me and held my hand and paid for 100 dollar meals with me. I don't understand why he doesn't want to move forward. When I told him i want a relationship he said he's he likes me, but isn't ready for that kind of commitment. He asked me why we can't keep things the way they are. He says he doesn't want to stop talking to me.

I don't understand what he's thinking or why he insists on keeping things so casual? If he likes me then why doesn't he want to be my boyfriend. If he's not interested, why does he keep talking to me and kissing me? i feel like we're in limbo, but he seems perfectly fine...

He's keeping you on the back burner. You're just an option in his eyes.

The question is not 'why is he doing what he's doing?' but why the hell you keep putting up with it, playing along and doing things his way when it's patently obvious you want different things...?

What the hell are you thinking...?!

His behaviour doesn't puzzle or concern me - but yours does!

Leave.

This is going nowhere.

he likes you as a companion, a girl on his arm.

And he will NOT change.

He is pulling ALL the strings, and you are dancing to his tune.

Just the way HE wants it.

You need to quit and bail.

It is not necessary to understand why he is doing what he is doing or the motivations for his actions.

All you have to decide is how you are going to react to it.

He could have mean reasons like he's just stringing you along or he could be scared because he's been burned in the past.

Why he's doing it doesn't matter as much as the fact that he is. The ball is in your court. You can continue with the statis quo but if you do I would continue to keep my eyes open & date other people. Or you can tell him this isn't working for you & you'd like more with him but if he can't do that you are off to find somebody who can. The choice is entirely yours: stay or go. But don't pick stay & whine; you will just make yourself crazy.

d0nnivain is correct. Have you talked to him about his previous relationships? Does he have a reason for holding back like a really bad previous relationship? And of course you need to ask yourself, do you trust him? A ladies intuition is extremely powerful, so use it. Don't ignore it. Pay more attention to his body language when you bring this subject up.

It is way too easy to ignore all the signs that say he is stringing you along, especially if you are lonely.
