Things to do on a weekend night alone except sit at home

Recommended Posts

Hopefully this thread will help the guys and girls.

What do the guys and girls do on a weekend night if your friends are busy and you do not want to sit at home? I need places besides bars and clubs.

What I usually do is go to the gym. BTW, for you single girls, the gym on Friday nights and Saturday nights are FULL of single guys. At least my gym is. Quite frankly, if you are at a gym like me on a Friday or Saturday night you are single. Not only that, all these guys are in shape and a lot are pretty good looking. I am not gay but I know they are descent looking if I see them... Unfortunately not too many girls go to the gym on these nights so that's great for you single females.

I am thinking of going to a Barnes and Noble or Starbucks and just read a book.

So, what do you do or do you have any ideas or places to go on weekend nights alone?

To the cinema... keeps you busy but not much social interaction.

To a dancing class, if that's your thing (I like it).

To a virtual world, such as Second Life of World of Warcraft.

I write fiction, record music, or exercise. I find that I'm in the best shape when I don't go out much, because I'll just put a movie on and do cardio all the way through it.

And single females are too busy going out on dates on Friday nights to go to the gym. :)

i concede that lots of places can be, but i don't think 'bars and clubs' are necessarily sleazy places if you know where to go.

perhaps a wine bar or wine tasting ? never ceases to amaze me how many single women i find there, and the places aren't usually loud and obnoxious so its easy to have some normal conversation.

just sayin :)

If you are hitting the gym alone between 8pm-2am every Friday and Sat night, it probably means you don't have much game, don't have many friends, and rarely date. Unless you are prepping for some bodybuilding contest or fitness show, hanging out at a gym is akin to hanging out at some bars where it's nothing but a sausage fest. Doing that all the time isn't going to do anything for your social life.

There are plenty of active things you can do as others have mentioned. While other times you can go camping or hiking or surfing or fishing or sailing or skydiving, or hang gliding or running or dancing or hit a lounge for a drink or two and meet new people. Go to a business or school event or some fundraiser. Go to a sporting event. Volunteer to help some charity, organization, hospital, etc. Make plans for Sat or Sunday where you are forced to wake up really early. Plenty of things you could do.

Think of everything you would do with a boyfriend/girlfriend and then do those things on your own!

Go out for dinner, go see a movie, go for a walk, go shopping (spend some money), or go to a sports game! Maybe you will meet someone along your travels.....you never know.

nobody's girl

Most newspapers run a weekly community calendar with lists of upcoming events in the area. Check it out and see what your community has to offer. You might be surprised at what you find. Just today I walked over to the farmer's market and on my way past the art center I saw a flyer for upcoming pottery classes. Even if I don't meet anyone at any of these things, I figure at least I'm learning something new.

I joined the site http://www.meetup.com. It is free and they have groups where people get together and do things like restrauants, yoga, board games, karaoke, sports all sort of stuff. Really great for meeting people.
