How can I tell if my best friend is flirting with me, or just playing around?!?!

I've known this guy for almost two years, and we've become really good friends. But, ever since I've met him, I've had a huge crush on him, that has turned into something like an obsession. He's been in a serious relationship with his girlfriend for over three years, but whenever we're together, I feel like we're always flirting. Even our other friends jokingly say one day we're going to hook up. How can I tell if he really likes me or if he's just playing around? It doesn't help that he's very outspoken against homosexual relationships, but I always think he just might be covering up for something. If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

You're a guy....he's a guy. He's been in a relationship with a girl for three years. He is very outspoken against homosexual relationships. I'd say it's an excellent bet he isn't flirting. One way you can find out is to make a pass at him. You'll have either found a new love or you'll end up in the emergency room. This is one I'd stop fantasizing about.
