My job that I currently have is what has been keeping my body in somewhat decent shape. I am around 180lbs but am 5'10" which I don't know if that is overweight or what. My concern is I want to lose my job that I have now, to take on more responsibilities as a business owner with my partner, but the thing is I am nervous because this job I have is the ONLY thing keeping me semi inshape.
I will not join the gym, it is too expensive and I know myself I will only go afew times and not go all the rest. I want to do some stuff at home that will help me stay where I am at. I plan on getting a bike, but wondering what else I should do. So, what other activities could I do at home that will cost me little to no money? Walking kinda bores me because I don't walk as fast as I used to and at work is the only time I walk fast, because it is a physical job.
Start taking the stairs. Park on an upper level and walk down. If you already take the stairs - take more stairs. Swimming is excellent exercise. Drink more water. What about some volunteer activities? Join a bowling league. Putt-putt golf. Learn to use a hoola-hoop! I do that while watching TV sometimes. Even when you change jobs you will find more ways to burn calories in your daily routine. Take a walk at lunch - even if it's only 10 minutes. Walk to the farthest bathroom instead of the closest, things like that.
Good replies. I feel as if I am fine with my body though being the weight it is but don't want to grow bigger if I quite my job and do little exercise. So, you say 150 or less is the ideal weight, interesting, I guess that would be a goal of mine to get down to.
Are there any sites that show charts on your age and what you should weigh? Just curious. And is 150lbs for someone like me who is 5'10" something that is brought about by the media where it seems like I am overweight?
Most women look their best if you add 5 pounds to 100 for every inch that you are over 5 feet. So..100 + (5*10)= 150. This does not mean you are necessarily overweight or in an unhealthy weight range. Do a google search for "bmi calculator" to see if you fall within the healthy weight range for your height.
My SO and I do all our exercising at home. I think joining a gym is pointless and a waste of money unless of course you are not easily motivated and need a trainer. Here is my work out routine I do 3 times a week with my SO...
4 sets of 10 lunges
4 sets of 10 kick backs
4 sets of 25 crunches
4 sets of 25 leg lifts
I have just recently started working on my calves, and I do about 3 sets of 10 of whatever you call that.
I've noticed pretty dramatic changes in my body shape since we have started this routine last month. Walking is always good. Swimming is a fun, cool, and an excellent form of exercise. Maybe invest in a tredmeal so you can walk or jog at home. We have a cross trainer. It starts to hurt after awhile but really works your legs!!

Tae bo works great for me. It's fun and you *feel* like the 30 mins - hour you've spent exercising was worth it. And all it takes is a dvd player and some space to move around in, can't get more convenient than that.'
Good Luck!!
