Engagement Ring Problem

My boyfriend bought my ring the day before he asked me to marry him. I had just turned 18. So, at the time, I liked my ring, but now, not so much. I have had it for like 6 months, and I know I can't return it or anything, at least I don't think so. I don't like the shape, and to make up for the small diamond, he said he wanted my wedding ring to be one of those enhancers or ring guards, which I want my wedding ring to be something that could be worn on its own. I don't know if I should tell him or not. I don't want to hurt his feelings over a ring that probably cannot be exchanged. What should I do?

Talk to him. Marriage is a huge deal and alot tougher topics are going to come up during marriage. If you can't talk to him abou this, then let's just say that's not a good sign. Communication is the key to a happy marriage. This is a good opportunity to see how well the two of you communicate.

Communication, as Bab said, and Compromise.

you DID like the ring....and although you would rather have a single band...... compromise with your man....aka, get more bling .....and add on.

personally if my guy said he hated the ring i had picked, and he had said he like it previously..... i would be hurt..... i would get over it though, it is just a token.

Rings can always be exchanged. That's the thing with diamonds...they retain value. You might not get the same price that he paid, but you can bring it back to the jeweler and find out what it would be worth to exchange it for something you like better.

Definitely talk with your fiancee about it. I'm sure he wants you to be happy with the ring, especially since you will have it forever. Tell him your ideas about what you'd like and just see what he says.

think of it as a training ring, lol ... as time goes by and it gets closer to the wedding, pick out the set you like/want. You can always wear the first ring on the other hand, or wear it on those occasions you don't want to wear your nicer set. And once you have kids, you can put it aside for them – they can either reset or trade in for another model. That's what my older sis did with her engagement ring from her first husband, gave it to her daughter to do with as she liked, and everyone was happy. It's just a piece of jewelry – you're not stuck with forever and ever as the only piece, IMHO. I swapped out the plain gold WalMart band we bought when we eloped for a puzzle ring that DH brought back from Saudi Arabia and now call it my "wedding band" because it's something I really like. And he's okay with that.

Smile Engagement Ring problem????

Getting engaged is fun and exciting. But look at the big picture. Your 18 and in six months you have already changed your feelings about a ring. A ring...
Take some time to grow and think. You are so young to commit to someone else in marriage. Commit to yourself, and what you need to do to as an individual. You may not even know what that is yet!!! Marriage is huge step to take at 18, 20 or even 25. Give yourself a little more time.

Ok.... it's JUST A RING. Who cares??

My boyfriend and I talk about marriage all the time, he asks me to marry him all the time, and I tell him yes all the time.

There's no ring in this picture though. Because a ring DOES NOT MATTER.
I mess around saying that I don't want a freakin' diamond. I want a RING POP... because I can atleast eat that... MMMMMMMMM. hahhahah.

It's the LOVE that matters.
