Ok so I'm not much of a morning person as far as working out. I get up help get the kids ready for school, breakfast etc. I usually do housework that needs to be done, and have found I feel like I have more energy to do exercising later on in the day or late afternoon. I'm not into exercising like I should but seem to be a little more motivated in the later part of the afternoon. So is it ok to workout/exercise later on than morning? Maybe people have to do whats best for them whenever? Is there anything I shouldn't do or might need to avoid if I do it later on?

I am not a morning person either. I always go after a day at work. The later part of the day I start to think and concentrate about my exercises. This motivates me to the gym almost everyday after work.

I've read that exercising too late in the day isn't good if you have trouble sleeping, I think that's the only thing. Your body gets all revved up and it's a lot more difficult to settle down.
Of course I am a morning person (since I've gotten sober, I love early morning when no one is awake) -- I wake up at 7:30am even on weekends!

Best time for me is the morning better for speeding up the metabolism ! If i don't do it in the mornings it won't get done . I guess it whatever works for you.

Your right Blind if i do exercise in the late evening keeps me up at night ! It gives you a adrenline rush .
I know many ppl who go to the gym or workout after work. However the thing is, I have the time to do it here at home, I just need to motivate myself more.
I'd say 6 hours or less before you normally go to sleep. So, if you normally go to sleep at midnight, no later than 6pm?
But if you fall asleep alright, or your quality of sleep is not an issue, I wouldn't worry about it. I just can't handle it meself. I just try to workout right after I get out of work, or if I stay late, I do some yoga to stretch and excercise muscles without energizing my brain.
I'm not sure there's a best time or a bad time, although I have also heard not to exercise too close to bed time or sleeping can get difficult. I myself will never ever be making an appearance at the gym before work, that's for sure! Totally not a morning person, it's hard to even get up for work at 6:15! But I can see how it gets some people started. Maybe if I had a home gym?? Do what feels right for your body, it gives you signs for a reason. Happy workouts to you!
the issue of not being able to sleep varries from person to person. I have gone running right before bed before and have had no issues, but I know people that can't run later then 6:00 or they can't fall asleep. Just try it out and see what works. Just make sure you eat after your workout regardless of when you get back or how soon you plan on going to bed. Nothing huge, just a few hundred calories. A milkshake or big glass of chocolate milk would be perfect.

I was just curious because I tend to have problems sleeping sometimes. I am just trying to figure out if my exercising is any sort of factor.

I have equipment at home as well. The stuff collects dust now because I have found that it is easier for me to exercise away from home because at home there are distractions that have prevented me from exercising in the past. I use to have a tendency to put a movie on, read a book, or eat instead of exercising. Maybe a gym membership will motivate you.
I've heard that first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, is absolutely the best time to work out.
But if you can't swing that, and the choice is between afternoon or not at all, I'd go with afternoon. You'll still benefit from it... maybe just not quite as much.

You might try changing the exercise schedule around for just a week to see if that helps at all. I think you'll find that energizing yourbody early in the day will help you become a morning person.
