My Valentines Meal.....Nightmare!

Hi all

I need your help... I seem to be a hopeless romantic when it comes to producing a romantic mean for valentines and this year I really want to make it up to my gf for all the desasters in the past.

Can anybody suggest any ideas that many help this coming tuesday?

Please help me

Thank you

If you're that nervous about the situation why not simply splash out and go to a restaurant?

Daz: You can't go wrong in taste and you can't do wrong in prep with a roast. They are just too easy and tasty.

Buy an "English roast" or an "arm roast" (those are beef). Line a roasting pan with foil. Rinse and place the meat in the pan with onions and mushrooms. Pour broth on it (available in cans) and bake it for a couple hours. About an hour before you want to eat, add carrots and potatoes. VERY easy and tasty. (You can do the same with a pork roast.)

You could also put a roasting chicken in the oven for a couple of hours and make rice and a veggie on the side. (Sprinkle the chicken with salt, pepper and poultry seasoning.)

Why not something spicy and exotic?

My BF sometimes makes a curry chicken that is so fab and mouth watering;

You take skinless chicken breasts and pound them a little. Don't make them too thin. Dredge them lightly in milk and flour that has had a good amount of curry powder added to it. Lightly fry in a pan on either side until browned. You can then continue cooking them in the oven at 350 until cooked through, or put on low heat in the fry pan, add a bit more oil if needed and cover with a lid to keep heat in.

Serve with yellow rice that has been seasoned with saffron and a bit of salt and pepper and toss with olives
Serve the chicken with lemon wheels on top for garnish. Sprinkle everything with parsley for extra color

Warm some pita bread and serve with a mint yogurt sauce on the side (plain yogurt, finely shredded and drained cucumber, mint leaves, lemon juice, salt and pepper)

The yogurt sauce is also good with chicken

This dish is nice with a crisp white wine or a nice zinfandel

For dessert, try jarred, pitted apricots soaked in brandy over vanilla ice cream

Talking I've Found a Great Recipe Book

Hi All

Thanks for all the advice people,

I might try some of your suggestions, but I found a great valentines recipe ebook yesterday and after looking through it I have a great meal lined up.

We will start with french toast, then move on to Beef Tenderloin with Green Peppercorn-Brandy Sauce, and finish off with Banana Tart With Passion Fruit Sauce for desert.

This is a great book and not very expensive

I would strongly advise you check it out if like me you don't know what to make your gf or partner.

Thanks again for the advice and I hope you all have a great valentine's day.

Daryl
