Wearing a wedding band while single, is it a terrible thing?

If a gal or guy wears a wedding band while out and about town just to keep people at bay - is it a terrible travesty? If yes or no, then why?

No.. because you can wear anything you want..

Although I have heard of women waitresses wearing a wedding band and even though they don't get hit on by the single guys they get hit on by the married guys

I wore a fake band for years. Problem was I'm too honest and if anyone asked me about it, I told the truth, that it was a decoy.

What about guys who wear them because they say they get more attention w/ it on? What do you think of guys who do that?

Wearing it not to get hit on is somewhat understandable. Though it could be considered a little cowardly, because you're trying to avoid having to politely turn someone down.

Wearing it to get more women (or men if that were the case) is just dumb, because you won't be attracting a very good quality of people that way... Unless you're just trying to get laid. In that case, it's a little shady, but not too much harm done.

I'm going to date myself but...

there was a time when it made far more of a difference than it does now. Someone who was married was simply off-limits to anyone else, at least in "polite" society. Most unfortunately, our society (hell, the entire world for that matter) has become far more self-absorbed and uncivil so I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference anymore.
