rebound

I have been going with this guy since high school. 4 years to be exact. When we are together the times can be so good its unbelievable, but whenever there is any demands made on him or we have problems like other couples he wants to break up. Then in a month or 2 we end up back together. I am totally in love with this guy and when we are apart its like part of me is dying. I just am so afraid that I will never feel this way about any other guy. He also gives me mixed signals, he invites me out for dinner, even though we are broke up and tells me that he loves me but we cant go on breaking up like this. But he is the one doing it. can you give me some advice as to how to handle him.
