The book:"It's called a break up becasue it's broken"

I guess the author of "He's just not that into you" has written a new book..."It's called a break up because it's broken"

Anyone read it yet? Feedback?

READ IT!!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!

I bought it when it came out last Tuesday. Truth be told, it's such a fast read that you could spend an hour or so at your local Barnes and Noble/Borders etc. and get through it; I chose to buy it so I could read certain chapters over and over again.

I like that the book is funny in addition to being serious. When you're feeling your absolute lowest, it is SO nice that someone (well, two someones, the authors of the book!) understands and wants to make you laugh to ease the pain. In addition to the breakup stories of the authors, there are anonymous "worst case scenario" type stories in each chapter.

Right now I'm on day 20 of the book's recommended 60 day "he-tox" (a.k.a. no contact) and I've re-read the chapter on backsliding several times. Overall the book has told me many things I already knew, but NEEDED to have reinforced. Yes, at times it made me cry, but it's one of those tough love sort of deals. The authors of the book want you to know that you are one rocking chick who DESERVES a decent relationship, not the shambles of your past with your ex.

Stop reading this post and go read the book!!

I spend whole afternoons/evenings at Barnes and Noble. I am such a geek.

I know I need to spend some more quality time with the book; I'm almost halfway through the suggested 60-day "hetox" and I'm getting to the point where EVERYTHING reminds me of my ex. Arrrrrrrgh.

But the book will definitely make you smile, and it will also give you a fresh perspective on things.

Also read this one......

Another great book to read after a breakup is "In The Meantime" by Iyanla Vanzant. It's helping me through the trainwreck I just experienced.

Beth,
The book is basically about how to have relationship success in your life. After you breakup, you are in the "meantime" so to speak until you find your next love. So it covers how to deal with that as well as has some good insight on how to make your relationships better. Here's an excerpt from the book off of Amazon.com:

What is the meantime? According to author and inspirational speaker Iyanla Vanzant, being in the "meantime" means being in a state of limbo. "When you are not happy where you are and you are not quite sure if you want to leave or how to leave, you are in the meantime," she explains. Rather than wallow in confusion, Vanzant encourages you to use the meantime as an opportunity to prepare yourself for true love. The first order of business is to clean house, starting with the basement--the place in the psyche where you store your most destructive thoughts. Room by room, Vanzant takes you through a metaphorical cleaning of the soul. This way, when your meantime days are over and love finally comes knocking on the front door, you'll have a clean house to welcome love into.

I'm not done reading it yet, but it is very good so far and has great reviews from other readers. Hope this helps.

Beth,
They call it a break up because its broken
So far I like the fact that the writters relate their own experiance and what they did wron gin relationships and also it's just cute easy reading.
But I also like that they point out that is just wasnt the right relationship, it doesn't mean it's your fault or that you did anything wrong, the relationship was just broken, and to stop wolling in the what if's .
Also as we all no, they have touched on NO Contact. This means calling for any reason or excuse. Such, as calling them to tell them to stop calling you... No Contact helps you keep and regain your diginity....
So so far that is what I have liked. SO I will keep reading some this weekend.

This is a great book. I loved the part about putting yourself number 1 and how they said that this may be the only opportunity you get to concentrate on yourself because the next relationship you have may be 'the one'. Also loved the scenarios at the beginning of each chapter, particularly 'Fancy seeing you here' - very true!
