Just wondering, since this is my first relationship, but do people go out for their 6 month anniversary, or not really. And do you buy each other anything? If yes, what?
Some do, some don't. I know one couple that celebrated every month anniversary. In another couple, the husband bought the wife flowers every Friday all the years they were married because they met on a Friday. And some people forget entirely.
If I had to make a bet on this, I would wager that the idea of a "six month anniversary" doesn't even occur to roughly 98% of men. I'd say the "six month anniversary" is largely hinted at and passively initated by women in the relationship and a man will 'surprise' his woman with something depending on how well she heavily hinted at the importance of the "six month anniversary".
If you are relying on your man to do something on his own, you may be setting yourself up for some disappointment. Why not suggest something yourself? Just say "Hey, our six month anniversary is coming up, and I would love to do something special with you that night..." and see what he comes up with.
Chances are he will have no idea how important it is to you unless you tell him.

Alright, but what if I don't say anything, and when the day comes I'll give him a card or something and say happy 6 month anniversary, and if he doesn't give me anything or doesn't remember then it makes him look that little, and feel bad?

See why play that kind of game? The thing here to understand is this.. just because to you the 6 month mark is important doesn't mean it means the same thing to him... never give a gift to get one and never give something hoping for a certain reaction... give a gift because you want to.

Alright thanks, you sure do give good advice. You see I'm alwyas taking advice from a couple of my friends, and it always leads up with me thinking negative about my relationship. For now on I need advice from individuals that I don't know.
Thanks a lot!
Don't get hung up on every little milestone. Life gets crowded after awhile and too many things tends to overshadow the important ones. That is not to say that we should ignore the little things but don't let it get out of hand. The most I would do is have dinner and somewhere in the conversation say "Hey--we've been together six months! How about that?"
