Unhappy ex won't respond, what should i do?

I was in an off and on relationship for three and a half years, a very tumultuous relationship, that we ended for good about 3.5 months ago. I have been very torn up about this relationship for the past year or so but have finally reached a place where I am at peace with it. When we finally ended things, I told him I would call him in about 2 weeks. Well I needed more time so I waited about 3 months. I just emailed him about a week ago but he hasn't responded. I am scared that he is shutting me out of his life for good, and I think maybe he is scared that I might get upset if he has a new girlfriend (which I don't know if he does). I am fine with that, I would be happy for him if he had a new happy relationship. I don't know if I should keep waiting, or if I should email him once more, or try and call him. I am finally, after so long, ready to honestly be friends with him, but I have a feeling he has shut me out. What should I do? He is someone who I have been through extremely emotional life changing events with and I want to keep him in my life. Help! I'm so unsure!

Why do u want to keep him in yer life? You should just leave him alone for now.

It's possible that just like you needed time away from him and what was... he now needs the same time away from you and what was.

As hard as it is to wrap our minds around sometimes when a relationship ends (especially and intense one) that although it's nice to think that the 2 people can be friends.. to be honest sometimes it just isn't possible....

You've already contacted him... if or when he wants to get back with you on that he will.. until then respect his desire to be away from it all the way he respected your decision.

Good Luck

You gotta move on, I'm afraid.

You don't need to keep him in your life, you shared alot but it's over, let go.
I know it's hard to hear............

I can some this up in one sentence...

It's Over...

Its been about three months since I last heard from my ex...and I wouldn't give her the time of day if she just wanted to be friends...the only way I'd talk to her again is if we would work on a new relationship...otherwise she is dead to me now...so forget it...unless you want this guy back romantically...then let him go...he won't be your friend anymore and what would he really get out of being your friend...exactly...find someone new...and start anew...it will be the best for you

You have to face up to the fact that he may be out of your life for good. Maybe he'll get back to you, but maybe he won't. Sorry to be so brutal, but for your own sanity you need to face up to this.

If you really must contact him, I'd give it some more time and then phone him. That way you get an instant response. If there is an obvious pretext, best to tie it to that.
