what would u do in this situation?

I just got hired on to this new retail company. My new boss /mgr. during the interview and the processing of paperwork and badges(work in the airport retail store) he is always trying to compete with me telling me how he brought this company up from down sales etc. also he treats us like we are children. i really need this job since i haven't had one in 14 mths and after 412 applications this is the only one that hired or even interviewed me. how do i get this mgr. /******* to settle down and not to be so insecure? iam 37 yrs old going on 38.My last job had no mgr and we had to take stuff on ourselves.

I'm not sure this guy is trying to compete with you so much as let you know how good he is. Could be insecure. I would just be professional, do my job, do well, etc. and ignore his line of BS.

There are only so many times he can pat himself on the back - this too should pass.
