the significant other's parents

okay, my boyfriend and i have been dating for 6 months now.... i met his parents probably within the first month of dating.... they are really sweet....classic 1950's perfect tv family....almost too perfect. I dont think i have ever heard them swear or anything such as a harsh/ rude comment... always so kind.

anyway, i was wondering how other people see their significant other's parents/ how close are you to them, any interesting stories or tips...

I see my SO's parents more than my own (basically 'cause my parents live in a different country & my partner's are just up the street). Anyway, I've never heard them swear or anything such as a harsh/rude comment either. Why would I? I don't live with them. When I do see them it's most likely a pre-arranged social event like dinner or the twice or thrice monthly Sunday afternoon visit. Quite honestly I would expect that we would all be on our best behaviour in those situations.

I really like them - they're elderly (80's and late 70's) but very mobile & independent. They've had interesting lives, lived through the war, have seen great technological & societal change happen & rolled with it all - they read several newspapers daily, use a lap-top, have an iPod, digital TV, digital camera, etc. They're actually great folks - I just hope I'm like them at their age!
