Songs that helped you get through a breakup

Hi, I want to find out what song(s) helped you cope with the breakup whether you were the dumper or the dumpee. Personally, I was the dumper. Situation was that she only came to me whenever she had no one else to go and I became her emotional blanket and she used me to make her current bf jealous and when we talked, it was a denegrating and dominanting tone. Song that helped me through the guilt of dumping her was Linkin Park - Numb and Papa Roach - Scars. Anyone care to share their song and situation behind it?

At the beginning of the breakup it was: (I was the dumpee)

Alicia Keys - Songs in A Minor - Practically wore the cd out cos I played it so much.

How come you don't call me, Why do I feel so sad and Goodbye.

Now I listen to (5 months on)

John Legend - Get Lifted - song Ordinary People

N*E*R*D - In Search Of - song Stay Together (this one makes me laugh)

Maroon 5 - "Harder to Breathe"
The lyrics are just a general, "I know you'll miss me now" type of thing.

(HED)PE - Pac Bell
This was my theme song after an ex from a few years back cheated on me. It must be played loud enough to disrupt your hearing.

Eminem - "Superman"
Perfect break-up song.

Pearl Jam - "Black"
Once the anger dies down, this is good for the nostalgic times.

Oh, I have a few of 'em..

-You oughtta know by Alanis
-I hate you so much right now by Kelis
-The one I gave my heart to by Aaliyah

They all definitely helped and like Tanbark said it's always best to play them as loud as possible (or as loud as the neighbors will allow without calling the cops!)

Pearl Jam - Black (2nd vote for this one) "I know you'll be the sun in someone else's sky....oh why can't it be mine"

Soil - Obsession "Can't you see how much you mean to me"

Seether - Broken "You've gone away u dont feel me...anymore"

Saliva - Storm "You were deep within my heart"

Godsmack - Straight out of Line "I can’t control you, you are not my destiny"

Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong "I wanna find something I wanted all along
Somewhere I Belong"

Him - Funeral Of Hearts "Love's the funeral of hearts And an ode for cruelty"

I really could go on here. The lyrics of songs can give substance to thoughts unsaid.

Music and Love Shack is pretty much what has kept me going. I could live without LS if necessary (sorry ) but as I have been known to say - "without music life is not worth living".

Good thread!

This verse from Limp Biskit Rearanged

Life is overwhelming
Heavy is the head that wears the crown
I’d love to be the one to disappoint you when I don’t fall down

But you don’t understand when I’m attempting to explain
Because you know it all and I guess things will never change
But you might need my hand when falling in your hole
Your disposition I’ll remember when I’m letting go

OH and I WILL SURVIVE

Yes! That's a classic "get over a breakup" song.

"Just like a pill," by Pink.

"And I swear, you're just like a pill. Instead of making me better, keep making me ill."

Perfect in my situation (dumpee)
