Unhappy Gallblader Stones

Ok guys I have a huge problem I don't know if some of you remember that a few months back I had to miss work and I ended up really having to miss because my upper abdomen had been hurting, well, they told me it was gastritis and not to worry As it turns out it may be gallstones!!! I am totally sh*tting bricks. I have never had an operation and it's the most scary thing for me. I still have to wait about 2 weeks to find out but I am so scared. Has anyone ever had this procedure done? How is it?

I hate the idea of being put to sleep, What if I don't wake up. What about the pain? I am even scared to google on this

Don't Worry!!

I had this operation last year. It was nothing. I had laser surgery and I was back to work in three days. I was scared too, but they explained how they were going to make three small incisions, including one in the belly button. The scarring is minimal, mine are about the size of a staple. It was scary being put to sleep at first, but it wasn't that bad. When I woke up I felt a little out of it and some chest pain. The chest paint was from carbon dioxide and went away soon. I was out of the hospital that afternoon. I rested and slept all that day and I was walking around and back to normal in three.

Don't worry. It sounds a lot scarier than it is. You'll be fine. It's a lot better than the pain from the gallstones that's for sure.

Hey girl.....I had this operation in '97 when I was 17 years old. It's not that big of a deal. I mean it's scary but well worth it. Gallstones are HORRIBLE! For me anyway the pain was unbearable I felt I needed to throw up but couldn't, couldn't breath, Just couldn't get comfortable! (sorry for all the details).

Anyway I must say that you'll be better off having the operation, it is a simple procedure.....you recover quickly and afterwards you'll feel much better!

(for me) you just drift off and don't remember a thing, I was weirded out by the anesthesia also BUT it's not that big of a deal.

I just (on dec 1st) went under for a 3 hour procedure and was SCARED again to "go under" but it turned out okay. Don't worry too much, as long as they have no probs starting the IV (which they usually don't) then you'll be fine...probably won't remember much about "going under"...

You'll not even notice 'going under' and, if you're like me, when you wake up you'll feel all wonderful because you've been sleeping soooo deeply! My only problem was with the pain meds; I don't need a lot of drugs and the stuff they first gave me was too strong and I felt dreadful but I changed to my regular headache medicine and it was fine.

Just anticipate going for the peacefullest sleep you ever had.
