Cheap wedding ideas

Hello to all,
a girlfriend of mine is getting married in August of 2005. She is trying to have the cheapest wedding as possible. Her and her fiancé don't have a lot of money, but they want to have a beautiful wedding. I am have maid of honor, and am very excited about it, but I am pregnant and am due in July! So I have two questions....When should I buy my dress, and have any ideas on having a great wedding for forty people under $1,000?

i would wait till post pardem to get the dress.

and start really searching around. i bet if you personally ask, you will get better response in terms of money. also think of all your connections, all the persons you know who may be able to help pull some strings.

I don't know if I can do a link or not, but anyways I HIGHLY Recommend the book 'Fire your Wedding Planner', There is an actual web site, so if you google it you will find it. It has tons of great ideas that will help save money.
I'd start by getting married at a flower garden or butterfly conservatory or beach or something so that you can limit the flowers needed. Get friends/family to help with the food and buy the booze yourself.

Get your dress after you have the baby. Cheap wedding ideas...get married in someone's backyard/house. Have a buffet for the reception, catered by a local fast food chain (ie. Panda Express, an Italian restaurant, etc. NOT McDonald's! LOL!) See if a relative or friend is good with cake baking and decorating. Have a friend or two act as the official photographer (make a list of all the pics she wants taken to make sure she gets everything she wants). Make as many things as possible...invitations, programs, favors. Find a flower market around your area to get the flowers and do the arrangements yourself. The community colleges in my area have a lot of half day classes on different crafts and flower arranging is one of them...see if you can sign up for something like that!

have a garden party, get family etc to do food, and make a cake...

get flowers from markets, and buy any other trinkets etc needed from gift stores, or second hand stores.

buy a nice white sundress for the dress (if it's a warm time of year..lol)

make invitations etc, and see if you know any good photographers.
