Good sign or totally indifferent sign?

BF and I are taking a week of NC till he decides if he wants to stay together or not, but he just sent me an sms messgae saying "Hi, hope you're okay. Just to let you know I passed my exam. See you on Friday. xx". I had got myself to a place where I was expecting to be broken up but now this message has given me hope and I hate the idea I'm getting my hopes up too much. I mean it could just be he's being nice and knows I'd be wondering how his exam went, or...argh i don't know. Any guys give me any insight if I should forget I got this message and carry on assuming the worst?

Think of it as a kind gesture, and don't read too much into it. He told you he isn't sure - that means that he's going to run hot and cold until he is sure either way. At the moment he sent it, he may have been thinking one thing but by the time Friday gets here he could be in an entirely different mindset.
