Talking getting motivation to go to the gym again....

When I first started the gym, I really enjoyed going because I seen results and I just felt good and energized. Now, it is like a chore to go to the gym and I don't have that energized feeling anymore when I am done at the gym. So, what's my deal? I want to get motivated and just go again, and make it an everyother day thing I do to better myself.

Does anyone else have this problem? HELP ME, PLEASE.

The motivation to work out does come and go. If you aren't training for anything specific, then I recommend that you just roll with it. If you lose motivation to go to the gym after a while, then go do something else. It's important to stay active, but the gym isn't your only choice. Just get your heart rate up and work different muscle groups. Go run stairs (if you can), go for a hike, join a soccer league or something. There are hundreds of things you could do.

Otherwise, maybe you can pick something to train for, like a 5k or some other kind of competition. That will keep your motivation higher and give your workouts purpose.

The other option is to take some time off. Your body does reach a point where gains are not possible and training is a waste. In fact it can be counterproductive because getting no gains can burn you out mentally. If you know you usually go for, say, 6 weeks before you get sick of it, then plan for that. You could map out 4-5 week cycles with 1 to 2 week breaks. That will keep your mind and body fresh. And you'll be excited to get back in the gym after the breaks.

I trained for years as a racing cyclist. Keeping my motivation up was the hardest part of it. It's almost a full time job if you are serious about it. Physical and mental burnout can be a real problem and you can miss months because of it.
