Not to worry!
A lot of girls/woman (not all, though) on birth control will gain some weight.....but for most, it's just a few pounds...like 3-5 lbs..and it's mostly water retention, caused by the hormones within the Pill. A lot of the newer "low dose" birth control pills out there now, there's less side effects, which is nice.
So you shouldn't worry about gaining a couple of pounds. For a lot of women, *that* just happens over the first couple of months (yes, fairly slowly)..and then once your body is adjusted to the Pill, it goes away.
Nobody is going to notice this tiny tiny little bit of a gain. It's much better to gain a couple of pounds that nobody's going to notice, than to suffer with horrible cramping each month :-) You'll likely notice your periods aren't as "heavy" as they've normally been, too...which is always nice! For a lot of women, they find being on birth control pills helpful to their complexion, believe it or not!..so if you have any problem with oily skin or acne, there's a good chance the Pill will help that a lot.
Hope that helps
