I need to clean my body.... I need natural detox tips.

I feel bad. I am retaining a lot of water and I an haveng a lot of indigestion and heart burn. I am thinking about fasting or better said cleansing my body.

I want to do it in a natural way. (No pills or laxatices) I was thinking to spend the day tomorrow drinking a lot of water with lemon, eating prunes and nut. Only for a 24 hour period.

If you know any else that may work ..... please let me know.

I think drinking a lot of water a day is the key. After I got on a major water kick last summer, it made all the difference in the world in regard to my general wellness and energy level. I drink quite a bit of beer and coffee too....so the water is really NEEDED to break down all the crappy stuff I load up with.

Exercise, even just a good long daily walk, is also essential to feeling your best.

talk to a health food store

If you have a trusted health food store near you, go in there and talk to someone who works there...to see what they suggest. I would just say that whatever you do, don't do it for longer than 24 hrs.

Lemon is a natural diuretic (helps to get rid of retained water in the body)..so you might want to add some real lemon slices to water.

Have you been to your doctor regarding your frequent heartburn/indigestion? Occasional problems with this might just be related to diet, but if it's happening consistently, it's time to see your doctor...could be something like esophageal reflux or a hiatus hernia...things that shouldn't be ignored. Even gallstones can cause indigestion (ask me, do I know about this).

Hope this helps.

whoops, sorry 'bout that

I guess I shouldn't quite my day job to become a speed-reader LOL. I totally missed the part where you mentioned you'd drink water w/ lemon. Sorry for repeating that.

Something else I thought of....health food stores sell different "Teas" for doing cleanses....herbal teas. You might want to ask about some of those?

A colonoscopy is a procedure where the person is given a fair bit of sedation, and a doctor puts a long tube with a scope on the end of it, up the poopchute and is able to visualize the colon and such. It's done ONLY to check for disease (like colon cancer, etc)....or if a person has internal polyps, in which case they can sometimes be removed when the colonoscopy is done, then sent to be biopsied. This isn't a procedure that you can just walk in and ask for (believe me, nobody would want this done unless it's absolutely necessary).....it has to be ordered by a doctor, usually a specialist is the one who orders it.

A colonoscopy would have nothing to do with detoxifying the body or cleansing the colon.

thank

A colonoscopy is a test to check for colon cancer... I guess you meant colonic...

I don't believe in taking laxatives... not even laxative teas..... I rather eat food or natural juices that will help clean my body.

I do drink a lot of water ... but I also drink a lot of coffee... and I exercise about 2 hours everyday.

yeah, i meant that other deal where they suck all your poopies out.

Detoxing how, by getting impurities out of yopu dfigestive system? in your blood stream, how so...that would make a course of treatment easier to prescribe

Physicians will tell you that 'detoxification' is hooey. Your liver, kidneys, colon, and lymphatic system are all there to do exactly that - extract the toxins from your body. What do you think goes down the toilet?

You don't need to 'detox'. You need to change your diet and lifestyle so that you always eat good foods, get enough exercise and rest, and remain properly hydrated. When, oh when are people going to quit chasing 'magic' cures and just simply change lifestyles? It isn't hard. I've done it and it really is not that hard - you just need to decide to do it.

If you have digestive system issues, see your physician for a diagnosis. There are any number of reasons this could be happening and there are good treatments for all of them.

moimeme...

I eat well, I drink a lot of water, I exercise everyday, I sleep 8 hours everyday.

The only two things that I put into my body that I know are bad are, coffee and aspartame.

I am not looking for a MAGIC Formula, and I don't want to detox to loose weight. I know the body does it on its own. BUT I have been feeling bloaded all week, i haven't pooped, i have dark circles under my eyes, and I was thinking a DETOX/fasting may fix me right up. So I am looking for suggestion of natural ways to do it. And yes if it continues I will see my doctor.

I'd have a breakfast of bran cereal and prune juice and dine on beans and corn. If that doesn't clean you out, nothing will.

Asparagus is also supposed to be good if you're retaining a lot of water.

I think if you cut back on your consumption of meat - 3 to 4 oz per meal at most, and increase fruits, vegetables, and other fiber (nuts, whole grain cereals), it will help you a lot. Dark circles are often due to dehydration (as is constipation) - are you sure you are drinking enough water? Oh, and cut out the aspartame, a teaspoon of sugar or honey doesn't have that many calories and doesn't do such scary stuff to your body.

Good luck - it is such a drag to feel that way!
