Hi I'm 20 years old and I'm 5'4 119llbs, anyways I want to get toned, and look like I work out- I want my abs to be firm and my legs to look toned, I have a membership for Ballys which I havent used. I just don't know what kind of workouts to do and what should I eat to get a toned firm body ASAP....

Don't the Ballys people show you how to train?

Pilates is good for some people, but the key to getting an athletic bod is to find a type of exercise that suits you and that you enjoy. Otherwise, there will be no incentive to exercise and you will get bored very quickly. I enjoy combat classes and kickboxing, and mix this with running. I would suggest getting on the treadmill and setting goals for yourself at first; keep it simple. If your gym holds classes go for it - most are suitable for beginners and they can be lots of fun. More to the point, you are forced to exrecise for 45 minutes!

I cannot stress highly enough how important it is for you to use weights. Get someone from your gym to show you how to use the different machines and free weights, because you will NOT get a firm body from cardio alone, at least not one that stays firm. Working with weights (they don't have to be heavy!) will shape your body and set it up to burn fat faster.

It might all seem a bit overwhelming at first but you are doing yourself a huge favour by getting into the fitness lifestyle. Not only will you improve your looks, you will improve your health and your lifespan. Good luck!
