Red face Dating girls taller than you...

How would you feel about dating a girl, or even having a relationship with a girl who is about 4-5 inches taller than you? If you have/had that experience let me know if height is/was an issue.

Because imagine that introducing your tall girlfriend to your family/friends.. Wouldent that just feel strange? Just knowing that they are pretending that they are happy for you, but when they really are laughing in their heads.

and agian...

What would cross your mind if you saw a guy 4-5 inches shorter then his girlfriend, but his girlfriend was damn Hot?

And girls, what is your opinion on dating guys shorter than you? and don't give me any of that "love is what matters, its not what on the outside that counts, buts its what in the ins"... NO! dont give me that cheesy stuff just to be nice to me. but no really I want you to be honest.

-Thanks

Okay, no cheese huh... hmm, well, as a woman I have to admit my number one turn on/off has been height. I have always gone out with guys taller than me but then I'm pretty minuscule (5'3) and there aren't a lot of men shorter than than me out there.

Would I consider a short guy? Yep - he'd have to pack a mean punch to get my attention, but I'd not reject a good man because he was vertically challenged. However, I'm also about 110 and with time your priorities do change and start drifting towards the cheezy side of looking at things.

Listen, if someone makes you feel great they make you feel great. Some people will think "man, look at that short guy with that hot chick! Lucky dog!" others will think it funny looking, but most believe me, won't give a damn so, bottom (cheesy) line? I say, screw the world and the horse it rode in on, if she's tall and you're short, so be it - if you can get her, don't let insecurities stand in your way.

Thumbs down

Well I am short guy only 5.8 or so , I personally feel very uncomfortable dating taller women but I have had exceptions where the person has been really

special , otherwise I prefer women shorter then me , don’t know why probably just a mental block or something. I mean I cant slow dance with my girl or put my arms around her like properly so yeah I would feel akward.

hmm

I think it's best if height of the girl is less than or equal to the height of the guy OR if the guy is a LOT shorter. I've seen many cute couples where the guy is miniature, and the girl is a 5'9 busty gal with long hair, heheh.

It all depends

Me personally, I would probably not go out with a guy shorter than me because I like the tall, hunky, athletic guys... but it just depends on the people who are together. My oldest sister is about 4 inches taller than her hubby, yeah we may poke fun at them, but we aren't mean about it, so they don't mind. I just wouldn't want to bend over/down to kiss my guy, thats not cool. lol

Standing on my Soapbox? Nope, I'm just TALL!

I had to reply to this because I happen to be a rather tall girl myself: 5'11 in my "short" shoes, although my footwear of preference are my beloved Dr. Martens! Thus I am frequently in the 6' range. What drives ME particularly batty are that a number of taller men seem to really prefer much much shorter women. Granted, this is not always the case, but being basically four inches above the average height for a woman is challenging enough in the clothing world, and even more so in the dating world!

By the way, though, I have dated shorter guys. One who was quite a bit shorter, and although it was awkward at times, it was a fun time!

I know your pain, I'm 5'10" without shoes on... I was the tallest girl in the class up until my soph. year and the tallest of the boys and girls until 6th grade.

Talking Yay for the Tall Girls!

Hoopsy, there are certainly times when complaining about my height suits my mood, but for the most part I have to say I definitely love the fact that I can be the one to stand behind everyone else and still be able to see everything!

I'm 5'6" but my mothers other daughter is 6'1". Her ex husband is 5'2". She is big-boned and he was very petite. It was no big deal to see them together - we were just used to it.

On the other hand, my girlfriend and I were out at a nightclub once (many years ago - early '70's, yes disco) and we were sitting at a table when a guy came over and asked me to dance. He was wearing platform shoes that probably added another 3" to his height. But so was I. I rose from the table and it was almost in slow-motion as I rose above him and stood. He just barely reached my shoulders. We danced. Had fun. Dated a few times. The first few times he kissed me we were sitting down so we were on more of an even keel. The first time we kissed standing it did seem very strange to me to lean down instead of up or across.

We just didn't click but I'm sure that if we had clicked the awkwardness would have disappeared with familiarity.

I know this may make me sound extremely shallow but I just couldn't date a much shorter man. A man of the same height would be the limit. I dated a shorter man before, it was just weird. I am an independent girl, sure, but I like to feel protected, (and not like a big heifer) it's stereotypical and I hate saying it but it's true. I know a man who is incredibly attractive, but I'm so much taller than him (I'm another tall girl hehe) and it just puts me right off. The guy I'm seeing is just a couple of inches taller than me, not much, just perfect.

I just wouldn't feel girly with a smaller man, don't know why. I really can't explain it, I probably sound horrible. I hate buying into the stereotype that the man "should" be taller, just as people think the man "should" be older, "should" earn more..........I don't believe in the last two but I'm afraid I like a tall man!

yes, I have also always perfered shorter girls than me, though the reason I posted this was because I have the opertunity to go out with someone who is taller than me.

She is in my class and we became friends few weeks after when the school year started, and I know lot of the guys want her (I have to admit she is hot). We have talked to each other almost everyday so we are good friends now.

Its wierd because she then asked me last week on the phone that if I ever wanted to go out with her and see if we can be more than friends, she even talked about how she felt that we were already more than friends which I couldent see. BUT all that suprised me because Id never thought she would be interested in me that way. I didnt say yes or no, I just talked about how I felt about her, but now she is waiting for an answer .... but anyways..

Shes is hot and can have any guy she wants, she also got other male friends, but why pick the short stupid one? (which would be me)

Well this girl doesn't sound like she shares any of the views of the majority so why not go for it? The main thing you're worried about is whether a girl would consider a shorter guy - well, she's asked you out!!!!!!! What other people think.....well, if you'd rather worry about that than possibly have a lot of fun, then so be it. I think you should go for it. (If you like her in that way, obviously)

I decided not to start anything with her, and its not because of the height issue, but because that there are other things going on in my life. She understands, and we are still good friends.

I'm 5' 9" without shoes.... 6' 3" in my tallest heels. My Boyfriend of 2 plus years is 5' 5" with his shoes. Does the height bother us? Hell no! It never has. He is very confident in himself. And I love my height. Every once in a while we'll get teased by family or friends, but it's all in good fun. I also have scoliosis (curvature of the spine) if my back was to be straightened I would be about 6 feet tall.
