Have you dumped but want to stay in close contact?

Do any of you who did the dumping after a long term relationship want to stay in regular contact with your ex, would you want to see them every day and be on the phone with them a lot (but don't cos you think that might not be good for the person you dumped), do you miss them a lot and feel like they are the person you will always be yourself with and you tell them no matter where you are a bit of them will always be with you? Do you now and again call them their pet name (ie darling, lover)? Will they always be special to you and you are terrified of losing them altogether? Do you feel it will be a long time before you know if you want to be with someone else?
Is this really JUST friendship/deep fondness for your ex?

My ex "hates seeing me". Every time we cross paths I get a late night phone call or text about it. It's always the good ole' "it's soo hard, i miss and still love you" BS. I don't respond and it doesn't affect me in the least to see her out w/ her new guy. But, when i'm on a date or with friends and she sees me, it's the end of the world..haha! I don't care anymore!

This sentence stood out.

I see that you are going through a rough time, and I know its hard, but if someone breaks up with you and just wants to be friends...you should accept that its all they have to offer you. I know how it is to read too much into things, and get carried away, but it doesnt do you any good.

NC is your best friend right now, trust me.

I know I didnt answer your questions, but I get the feeling youre reaching for hope, and thats just not healthy.

I was with a girl for a year and 8 months and we broke up, because we grew apart. When I broke up with her, she still wanted to talk on a regular basis. One day I was having a bad day and she kept pressuring me to tell her how I felt and she kept talking about what she needed from me. I told her to leave me alone and she got the message and went away. NC was the best thing she could have done.
