Anyone here had/have lumps in their breast that were NOT cancerous?

I ask that because we hear so often of breast cancer and how many women get it. Yet online, it says that 4 out of 5 lumps that are discovered by mammograms are non-cancerous.

So, how many here have had the non-cancerous ones discovered and what did they end up being diagnosed as?

I have had a couple biopsied, they were just cyst. But I insist that anytime I find one it is checked out thoroughly. The first time was in my 20's and without a history of breast cancer, I had to fight my dr(who is no longer my dr.)my insurance and tech doing the mammogram. It's my life, I don't mind fighting for it now.

My wife had something show up on a scan. So I am curious. Seems to me everyone I have heard about had it turn about to be cancerous, but my guess is that anyone that has not had cancerous doesn't talk about it.

And maybe others will read this thread and be reassured or not. While everyone is different, I find that I am really quit ordinary and not unusual. The majority statistics usually apply.

I remember about ten years ago that I had a lump checked out. The doctor was certain it was cancerous. When I went for a biopsy, the doctor told me that most tests that he did were not cancerous. He said that "you only hear about cancerous ones." And in my case, he was right. Mine was not cancer.

With breast cancer, it seems that "most" are cancerous. With such a wide range of individuals here, I was curious what everyone's experiences were.

My daughter's GYN found a lump when she was 17. They did a sonogram and removed it. It was a benign tumor. I can't remember what they called it exactly. The two weeks between finding it and the removal and biopsy where nerve racking for us. She kept referring to the surgeon as Dr. Coppafeel while coming out of anesthesia... I wanted to kill her then, even though I was so relieved that it was benign!

During the few weeks of wait time I talked to MANY woman who had gone through the same thing and had cysts or tumors that were benign. I think it is quite common.

Fat Tissue

When I was in my 20's, I discovered a couple of lumps in my breast. I went to get an ultrasound, and it turns out they were benign fat lumps. The doctor said this was quite normal for big breasted women; I thought that made sense since breasts are mostly fat. He also said that caffeine had something to do with getting breast lumps.
