20 years later.....overwhelmed and !

I didn't really know where I was supposed to put this but there is goes.

The first g/f I had ever had at the age of 15 has walked back into my life after 20 years. We lost contact all those years ago, she needed her space due to a horrible tragedy involving her brother many years ago, who I was best friends with. She needed time to cope and one day we just moved on. She has always had a special place in my heart after all these years and have thought of her on occasion over the years.

She found me on Facebook through some mutual friends that we still have, I couldn't believe it. The funny thing is we live in the same city now and have for several years, just never knew it. We were emailing back and forth and talking on the phone almost every other night just catching up after all these years. Great conversations and good laughs everytime we talk. Now, I know she has had a b/f and respected that. All I ever wanted to do was catch up with her and see how she has been. No harm no foul.

Well, this is where the tables turn. She started talking about her relationship with this guy of 5 years and how she is not happy and has wanted to leave for sometime. At that time, I honestly took it as a point where she just wanted to vent after she had grown comfortable talking back and forth. I never once said for her to leave him, that's just not my style. Now she keeps telling me she wants to leave and wants to be with me. She keeps calling what we are going through as fate, she says there is a reason that we are in each other lives after all these years.

I have been very cautious over the years where this is concerned. Leaving one person for the other.... you know, rebound material. I am a believer that if someone can leave a relationship to be with someone else it can always come back to bite you, I have seen it too many times. I finally met her face to face after all these years and the wave of emotions just took over. I remained nothing but a gentleman even though there was that instant connection. I am just so very confused as what to do at this point.

I am just wondering if I were ever to pursue this what the outcome would be. has anyone gone through something similiar? What was the outcome in the end?

I would really appreciate any helpful advice in regards to this matter if you would.

Respectfully,

DK

i have never been in that situation, but i think you should follow your heart and whatever it tells you. Don't let an opportunity go to waste, but if you feel its not appropriate then do go for it either.
