SWF neighbor to heroin addicts

Not sure where to post. I own my house and the house next door is rented to section 8 housing owned by the tenants sister.

She is drunk all the time and the son is doing heroin. Now the son's friend is doing heroin and staying there. They steal, hide needles and spoons. I hear about it all the time from the mother who is no good example herself.

I am nice to them but afraid that they know I am single, alone and know when I am or am not home. The friend is always offering to help me with yard work and other things, which I always refuse politely. They seem like good people with no accountability. People whose addictions end when they are dead. Arrest records and the birth of a child have not stopped the men. They are addicts unaware of why they can't find work, be independent, etc.

My issue is an anonymous tip will just send them to jail and they will move back when they get out, plus prior arrests have done nothing. I can't move in this economy and sell. I work hard, the neighborhood is not to bad. If I tell I could get robbed, if I don't tell I could get robbed. And either way I feel like I can't even enjoy fresh air with an open window. Contacting the landlord is of no help since she is family who is fully aware of the situation. And just for the record rehab has not helped them.

Any advice?

Call HOC- the office that oversees section 8.

you can remain anonymous- tell them what you know and they should have an inspector look into it, you can also report your suspicions to the police- just for the record.

Keep your place secure. Hide valuables in a different location. Make it where nothing in your house is worth of any real value and replaceable if stolen.

If your life is in danger, carry a weapon and be prepaired to use it.

This is exactly what you should do. While they may not show up right away, the HOC will monitor section 8 tenants, and drug use on the premises is grounds for eviction. Once they have seen it once, theyll be quicker to respond again, since its not very likely theyll quit using, even if caught.

A couple trips over with drugs/use = evicted.
