Hi everyone -- I'm delighted to see that there is a forum where so many people offer advice on dating and meeting people!
Anyway, you're probably all tired of coming across posts like this, but I know that looks aren't anywhere near the most important thing...personality and common interests are! That's why I ask that you please tell me honestly, and I will not be offended; it will just help me to know what I've got to work with!
I'm 23 and girls simply do not look at me; I've actually never had an interested look before. Unless it's just because of my tendency to act nervous in public, that probably implies that I am NOT good looking...but if anyone would be willing to give me the straight truth, here's a photo of yours truly: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=16524673
I know moustaches are a little out of style these days, but I think they look refined (like Errol Flynn! And trust me, I don't look good without one at all...I've tried!). As for the teeth, yeah, I've definitely got to get braces one of these days...but are they really THAT bad? And c'mon, does everyone REALLY need a cleft chin?
Very brutally candid and truthful...if I wanted people who were just going to give the most polite and uplifting response, I have friends for that!
I'm just trying to get an idea of where my looks rank in the scheme of things, that's all...Socrates said "know thyself", right? That way i'll know I can joke about my looks instead of assuming they're attractive, etc...there are different approaches to use based on whether a person's good-looking or not, you know!
...Plus, I know it will just be opinions since there aren't really any set definitions of good looks!
seriously who cares if girls think you are attractive! are you over 6' tall? My point is women are actualy really easy to get as long as your not to specific on the girl. Like say you said I like blonds who are thin and I don't really care what colour their eyes are or how tall they are as long as their not freakishly short or tall. well that would give you a wide range of targets and pretty soon youd be going on some dates... but if you get specific like I want to date cindy from work... then hey you might get turned down and there goes that. so cast a wide net for the limitless atractive girls out there and have at it and stop caring if they find you attractive or not.
so hard to tell why we are attracted to some people and not to others... There are some interesting theories out there. For me personally it always has something to do with uniqueness, the way someone carries himself, and a sense of being quietly comfortable with who he is... Looks are also important, and again, some people go for the "tall, dark, handsome" thing, where as I (being really short myself) tend to be more attracted to the short, fair guys, and yes, i like some extra weight too, sometimes Seriously, theres someone out there for everyone. Personally, I have to say that the moustache is a real turn-off, but who knows, there might be other girls out there who like it! Just don't try to be anything, or anyone (errol flynn, or whoever) else than youself! Get to know yourself, and feel comfortable in yourself, cultivate your interests, blahblah... The stronger your personality shines through, the more women will be attracted to you! Best of luck!
- why the mustache? I don't know anyone that has a mustache. It makes you look old, old-fashioned, weird. I don't know anyone that sports a mustache. If you really want the facial hair, go for the unshaven look all around or grow a goatee. seriously, wtf man?
- get a new haircut. again, you look old and old fashioned. it doesn't make you look smart. it just makes you look like you came from the 1800's (that coupled with your stache).
And some more tips:
- your profile is overly descriptive, and screams that you're trying to get people to know you. But it doesn't work. Less is more. You just come across as nerdy (in the bad way), overly cryptic, cheesy, etc...
-holy **** dude. we get that you're a neuroscientist. No need to stress it everywhere and write a painfully long paragraph about it. Ditch the flowery words, you've watched too many Middle Ages romance movies.
- the **** is your first paragraph about? Some pseudo-metaphysical blog rant? No one wants to read that. I only did because I'm trying to help you out. And again, it screams crying for attention and just plain weird.
- This just needs to go. No questions asked:
Quote:
Still with me? Well howdya like that...I feel like we're friends already! But alas, the time must come for all friends to bid one another adieu, be it for but a day, or 'til a distant morrow. And so, in parting, as I sign most of my letters:
Au Revoir,
C.
(Just imagine it in fancy cursive, for "dramatic effect"!)
- too many heroes, too many general interests (and why are they in alphabetical order? you look like you care too much and spent WAY too much time for a silly high-schooler website like Myspace)
to sum it up: change they way you dress, shave the ugly mustache, and get a new haircut. I'm shocked you're 23 and from the US. You look like a 40 year old from 1908, not 2008. Your profile is too descriptive, cheesy, and geeky, so I assume you're the same way in real life. Also, get the hell of Myspace. Facebook used to be good when it was only open to real university kids, now it's turning into a scumhole since they opened it to the public...
