I think I blew it with the sushi man

Well I think I blew it with the sushi man. I went against my instincts and decided to give him a call one night last week. We chatted about stuff. He made mention of something that I have encountered many times. He said he likes being the guy - as in holding open doors and paying for things. During the few times we were together I had no problem with him doing things like that. Even if I was out and about (at the mall, grocery shopping, etc.), I have no problem when a strange man holds a door open for me. But he said that sometimes strong, independent women, like me, he said, are fun to be around as well.

I asked what he was doing on July 4th, just to make conversation. He said he was having a family barbeque. I said I was going to a barbeque as well, but made no efforts to invite him as I didn't want to take him away from his plans. We hung up on a good note, but I have a feeling I won't hear from him again. Did I blow it? Is that the right thing for me to have done? Should I wait for him to return my call?

Blew it ? How ? What exactly do you think you did that may have pushed him away ?
THis is absurd. There is nothing in your post which is off-putting to a man. You are good, just be patient.
Dating a man is NOT this fragile and brittle. Quit overthinking things.

It doesn't sound like you did anything to blow it. I'd just say, relax. If he's interested, he'll call.

He doesn't sound overly interested. Don't sweat it.

Morten, girl, you're really overthinking about this thing with the sushi guy to the extent it annoys me. Why do you think it's your responsibility to invite him to your barbaque, why didn't he invite you to his family barbarque?

Look, you need to have like several options and since you're doing online dating try to initiate conversation with some other guys too, in parallel with this sushi man, so that you don't spend all your energy on this one person who doesn't look interested anyway; at least to me he doesn't.

What a lot of people don't realize is that unless you've done something blatantly wrong (e.g. pissed off the person of interest), there's very little you can do to make someone lose interest in you if they're already interested or conversely make them interested in you if they aren't already interested.

In other words, if this guy is interested in you, he will make the effort to arrange for you two to hang out. I don't think you said anything that would make him lose interest in you but at the same time, it doesn't sound like he's very interested overall--sorry.

Yes, you are all right. I will just move on. If he wants to call me he can call me. I was thinking I had done something wrong with a wayward text message, but I guess it was nothing. NEXT.

My sushi man was flakey too. I think the raw fish does something to their brain.
