It's a hard thing to comprehend.

It's a pretty hard thing to comprehend for me anyways. You meet a girl. Spend some time together. Go out. Enjoy the time that you're with them together. It might be a month, 6 months, 2 years, and so on. Most of the times it ends good. You live the fairy tell that we've always heard about. However, most of the times you end up breaking up.

You break up. Things are said. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's ugly. You accept that fact and there is nothing else you can do about it. Now for the part I don't get. You two shared maybe some of the best moments in your life so far. You enjoyed each other's company. You were best friends.

Now after the breakup one of the partners acts like it never even happened. As if it never phased them. On to the next guy as if she's changing her shirt. Hell, you sometimes even see the person at a mutual friends house. You say your hellos but then go your separate ways. Like two strangers who had never spent anytime together before.

How can someone not be affected. I'm pretty sure 2 years down the road if I saw her walking down the sidewalk, she wouldn't even acknowledge me. It's a hard thing to comprehend. At least for me anyways.

If she had any soul to begin with, trust me, she's affected. Based upon what you wrote, there are a couple of thoughts I have:

1) Don't see her, whether or at mutual friend's or wherever. It's painful and avoidable and you don't need it.

2) As sad as it is, she is a free being who may now date whoever she chooses, as you may do also. I understand that it sucks. Perhaps she's with someone so quickly b/c she doesn't know how to be by herself. A common symptom of the disease known as the young woman.

It sucks to have them treat you like a stranger. Best that you don't allow her to treat you in any way at all, by avoiding seeing her at all costs.

Turn it around... imagine if things feel this bad for you, they might also feel that bad for her too. Sometimes, the mask we wear on our faces and our outward emotions, doesn't betray the turmoil within. The girl you describe above could be me - I often appear that I moved on, I lost interest or that I just don't give a cr@p. But that's not the reality... if my ex asked me to my face directly what was going on with me, I'd tell him... yeah, a year down the line, it still hurts. A lot. I do what I have to do to get through it though and if that means looking like I'm okay, that's what I do.

Goos points Chinook. The fact is that we will never know how the other person feels. Even if we talk to them, they will misrepresent their feelings in an effort to appear happy and/or save face.

So Broncos, try not to think about these things. It never helps.

Thanks guys for answering. I know she still cares. I know because she has told me and when she did she started crying. It's just funny how she carries out her way of not caring. I've been trying to do the whole no contact thing but kind of hard when she has the same friends as I do.

It sucks too that I have 2 more years with her left of high school. Yeah you guys might be like young love, you guys don't know what it truly means but to me emotions are emotions no matter how young or old you are. And I know she has the right to date whoever she wants and so do I but lately it seems every girl I meet, I compare them to her.

It's pretty funny. We were totally strangers before we started going out. Met became best friends, went out. Now were back to square one, total strangers. Weird how some things work out.

Haha. No if you would read it right it went something like this:

"It was in plain view, and 2 feet away from where I put my bag down, so it wasn't like I went in her room, open her purse, and starting digging."
