Prayed for forgiveness, but felt nothing, what am I doing wrong?
Some time ago I asked God to forgive my sins and guide me to all things. But afterwards I felt nothing as a result. What am I doing wrong? Can't you speak with your mind or do you have to speak with mouth?
Maybe the reason you're getting no reply is because....
There's nobody home....
All you're getting is the ansaphone......
As an ex-Christian of 40 years standing, I can equate.
After a while, it was like knocking my brains against the wall.
so nice when I stopped.
I'm sorry if this isn't what you "wanted to hear" but it's my view and opinion, and you did post on open forum, after all.....

The problem is that you aren't forgiving yourself. If you are truly sorry, then God does forgive you, but the rest is up to you to handle.

Who says you did something wrong? Prayer isn't a one time thing. It is the most important part of having a relationship with God. It is like any other relationship, you have to put time and effort into it. Just as you try to get to know, to understand and to please another person, you have to do those same things with God.
He is also like an earth parent, just becasue we ask our parents for something, doesn't mean we get it right away or even at all. Sometimes things aren't good for us, so we don't get them. But in your case you sought forgiveness and if you were sincere in your thoughts and prayers, it was granted. But the one thing that God can't do is make you forgive yourself. That has to come from within. If you know you are changed and you know that you have recieved the full blessing of his forgiveness, let it go. Forgive yourself. Don't give up on yourself or God. Pray with your heart or your mouth. It doesn't matter, he hears.
If you don't mind I would like to pray for you as an intercessor. If you don mind, I'll do it anyway You sound like a kind person just seeking the way. I know that feeling all to well. You don't just jump into being the perfect follower. You will have your ups and downs. Sometimes the doubts outweigh the faith. But the word says if you have the faith of a mustard seed(pretty small huh)it is more than enough to start with. It will grow as your relationship grows. If it gets to uncomfortable on the board, feel free to pm me.
You are also someone who has the full blessings and mercy of God. When he forgives us, we don't have the right to continue to hold ourselves accountable for a sin that has been forgiven by the almighty. He loves us more than we love ourselves. Now love yourself and know that the sin you asked to be washed away, has been.
The key is that you have to allow Christ into your heart. You will not, "feel" anything or be, "guided" by the Holy Spirit until you die unto yourself and let Him enter into your heart.
You will then be a totally new creature.
It's hard to explain in text here especially when you have non-believers shooting everything you ask down.....
Please feel free to PM me if you don't care to hear the negativity surrounding your posts.
I already have accepted Christ into my life. I accepted Christ since 14 and baptised.
Now is just allowing him and the Holy Spirit to take over. Just build that relationship through prayer, studying and obediance. It is so worth the work.

I think you have received all of the available answers to this question. It would be up to you to choose the one that you think is correct. (And I am not saying that this makes it correct).
Either there is no God, God answered but you have not heard the answer...yet, or you have not prayed rightly.
Prayer is not some mechanical tool that can be used at one's discretion.
What is Prayer? – Talking With God
What is prayer? Prayer is our direct line with heaven. Prayer is a communication process that allows us to talk to God! http://www.allaboutprayer.org/what-is-prayer.htm
What is prayer?
Prayer is the practice of the presence of God. It is the place where pride is abandoned, hope is lifted, and supplication is made. Prayer is the place of admitting our need, of adopting humility, and claiming dependence upon God. Prayer is the needful practice of the Christian. Prayer is the exercise of faith and hope. Prayer is the privilege of touching the heart of the Father through the Son of God, Jesus our Lord. http://www.carm.org/prayer/prayer.htm
Now this shouldn't turn into a discussion of whether God exists or not, because the assumption is made from the title that Andy has the belief that He does. However, one of the answers is...no answer came because God does not exist. I do not believe that.

I hope I didn't offend you. Did we not answer you question properly? Is there something else I can do to help?
No, you didn't affend me at all. And yes, you've answered my question properly.
Thanks for the comments anyways
Before this thread concludes I like to ask an obvious question, if you accepted Christ and baptised but don't put as much faith in the holy spirit as you have to does that I mean I go to hell?
