Can you trust people?

I have been working in X coutry for last 8 years, up to this moment I still have doubt trusting X's people. They like to talk on your back although I can understand a bit of X's language my level of understanding is not that deep. Does everyone have the same experience

Re: Can you trust people?

As usual, your question is very general and contains generalizations.

I don't think it's a good idea to trust anybody right away, unless they are your new doctor or dentist and you do so by virtue of their licenses and professional credentials.

No matter what country you're in, whether it's X or not, there will be some people who are trustworthy and some who are not. Trust has to build over time.

Coincidentally, I will be traveling to X fairly soon (got discounted airfare). When I get back, I will tell you if they talked about me behind my back...since I speak the language very well.

Of course, you could be paranoid...in which case you would wonder what people were saying about you no matter what country you were in.
