Anyone knows solutions to acne problems?

I have been suffering from acne problems and sometimes they really get worse. I have tried many of the anti-acne products available but I am not satisfied with them as I feel that the results they give are just a matter of time. Can anyone suggest me a good remedy for this?

Have you tried Proactive? From commercials that I've seen on television, it seems to be a good acne solution.

If it's not an extreme problem, try finding a product at your pharmacy that contains 5% benzoyl peroxide. Anything less than 5%, isn't going to have the kick to do the job.

If it's extreme, you might want to see a dermatologist. There is a treatment that will cause some serious dry skin for awhile, but I understand it's worth it, in the long run.

Edit - I should clarify something. Sometimes acne is caused by irritation of dry or sensitive skin. If so, you might want to try Cetaphil facial wash, in that it is a non-comedogenic.

I'd recommend a good dermatologist.

Are you sure that is really is Acne ?...You might want to go see a skin Dr..

The reason I ask is that I had a pretty good case of back acne and I used every over the counter medicine and it never went away.. sometimes I would swear it got worse..

I have an aspirin allergy and it turns out that most acne products have salicylic acid in them and that is an aspirin derivative..

My back acne was cause by the anti acne medicine.. as soon as I stopped using any and used a good antibacterial soap my issues went away and have never come back.
I wasted years and a lot of money because I didn't know what I was dealing with...

Some people will tell you to get on birth control pills. It will help a lot but it has one thing to it that no one ever seems to want to share.
I never had anything close to bad break outs growing up other than right after getting over the chicken pox. That went away after a few months on its own. I would still get the occasional pimple after that.
As an adult, I started taking the pill and the occasional pimple became even more rare. Then I moved and had problems getting insurance so when my prescription ran out I had no birth control to take and OH MY GOD! I started breaking out all over for the next year. I still do to a much lesser extent and I know if I got back on the pill it would go away. I have insurance now but I am hesitant because the likelyhood that I can take it forever is slim and I don't ever want to break out that bad again. So before you consider taking the pill for your acne, make sure that it is the last resort because if you ever have to go off it you will be back to square one.

I know a couple of people that went on Accutane. Their skin looks amazing now, but from what I've read there are some crazy possibly side-effects.

Sometimes cutting certain things out of your diet could do the trick. Lots of people are allergic enough to dairy to break out. Try cutting milk and cheese out of your diet for a few weeks. You might be pleasantly surprised.

It is hormonal system problem. Besides plenty of sex I would suggest stress free life, plenty of sleep, lot of water (drink), some sunshine (UV) and green tea extract pills.

acne problem

This is just one of the most basic problems that most people encounter. I too had been through this and I am really happy to say that it was just a passing affair. I had tried a lot of remedies unless I used Clearly Gone. This product definitely suits your problem as you can see the results as you use it. This is just my opinion as I can feel your pain of being troubled by acne problems and would be happy that someone is relieved by the problem which had troubled me.

See a dermatologist. There is no telling what is causing your acne and if it is really bad, then any 'do it yourself' stuff might just make the problem worse and lead to permanent scarring.

I had acne since my early teens til last yr when I decided to take Isotretinion. I've tried so many topical products, and even the expensive prescription (Nuderm) which would cost me around $500 nearly every 2 months. Plus, I regularly went to skin clinics for cleaning & chemical peels or microdermabrasion every week, sometimes twice. My dermatologist put me on contraceptive pill (dian-45)for 2 years but after I stopped, my acnes were even worst than ever. I had cystic acne. The type that can totally disfigure ur face coz of the large bumps. It was a nightmare. Until finally, I agreed to be put on Isotretinion. I'm very aware of its serious side effects but I had no choice. I spent so much already for nothing. It was my last draw. In the first few weeks ( I got really sensitive skin), I noticed the side effects immediately. My derma put me on the lowest dose possible. I had nose bleeding, dry lips, dry eyes, and my facial skin started to peel ( as if i had chemical peel) and the worst is, I noticed my eyesight got affected. I also got depressed easily. But there was no looking back anymore. I just wanted to have faith on this powerful medicine.

Last month I just stopped using the medicine after a yr of taking it. It was my skin's best friend. I am loving my skin SOOOOOO MUCH NOW! I can't ask for anything more! I dont need to wear any foundation coz my skin pores are finer and my skin feels like a baby and gosh! I feel like a different person inside out! Even my acne scars kind of vanished like magic! I dont have an oily skin now. Plus, I wont worry anymore if i wash my face or not before going to sleep and wake up having those ugly bumps!

Anyway, before I decided to take this, i researched a lot and contemplated for more than 2 yrs. Although its just a derivative of Vit A, but its in high dose. Don't jump to any products just because it work wonders for others. Discuss your concerns to your dermatologist and gather as much informations as possible coz the serious effects of Isotretinion is irreversible. I'm wearing eyeglasses now but I can always wear contact lenses. Is it worth damaging your eyesight in exchange of glowing baby smooth skin? Crazy as it sounds but for me, YES! I've been struggling with low self esteem since 15 because of my CYCTIC acnes, not just on my face, but on my neck, chest and back too! I refused to socialize and I could say I missed lots of good things in my teens and early 20's coz this acnes were eating me whole. Now, Im 26. My 10 years of horror was over!

THanks GoD I'm the happiest right now! I just hope the effect will be long term though.

First of all, let me say: I feel your pain and frustration! I have suffered with acne since second grade--I know it seems young, but I developed VERY early, and have suffered with acne since.

Now for some solutions: First of all, there is no cure for acne. Accutane and Isotretinion (which is Accutane, only called by a different name in countries other than the US--I'm pretty sure anyway) are prehaps the closest "cures" there are. Like another poster said though: there are horrendous possible side-effects. My derm told me that I would have to have blood work done every month and take birth control (even though I am not sexually active) as well, since severe bith defects have been reported--babies missing arms, legs, their head. Yeah, not good.

As far as a less drastic measure, I suggest the following:

-plenty of sleep
-drinking 8 glasses of water daily
-a good multivitamin
-eating a well-balanced diet
-being as stress-free as possible
-a daily cardio workout

Now, though internal care is (in my opinion) just as important, if not moreso than external care, there are some things you should do daily as far as a skin routine goes:

-Wash: though acne is not caused by dirt, washing helps remove bateria and buildup of toxins that reside on your skins surface. Wash at least twice a day (once in the am and once at night). I suggest a mild cleanser (all of the crap that supposed acne cleansers have in them gets washed down the drain and is of no benifit. Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil, Purpose, Neutrogena Gentle line, etc).

-Exfoliate: do this at least a couple of times a week. I perfer scrubs, but some people like acids. I would be weary of any acid peals, as the particular acid used can cause an allergic reation. Be careful scubbing too! Gentle is key--don't think you can scrub away acne--it doesn't work like that. Exfoliation just helps your skin's natural process to take place. Some people with acne have cells that are slow to sloth off; exfoliation helps so that there is less dead skin for the the bacteria to feast upon.

-Masks: there are a variety of facial masks you can use (I like sulfur masks and there is a good and cheap benzoyl peroxide mask by Neutrogena), but I hear success with others. This isn't really necessary to get good skin, but it helps.

-Treatment: I like benzoyl peroxide 10% treatments, but anything that is above five (as trailbyfire mentions) is the most effective. Use this at least once a day (start off using it at night, just in case your skin is sensative). Others like acid treatments, or retinol (sp?). Try a few, pick one that works, and stick with it!

-Moisturizer: this is very important, for if you have dry skin or are using harsh treatments, your skin will need moisture! Even oily skin needs moisture. When you try to overly dry your oily skin, it just causes your skin to produce more, in order to make up for the lost amount.

Further advice:

-stick to your skin care rutine! Don't skip washings--when you go to sleep in makeup, bacteria runs amuck and feasts on all that great makeup! Also, don't skip in the morning, because your body detoxes through the skin--via sweat and such--when you are asleep.

-remember it takes a little while to see results. Don't give up! It usually takes about a month for your efforts to start taking effect. Don't dismay if you don't see the results you are looking for right away. That being said, if you notice that it gets much worse, you could be having an allergic reaction to a number of things--the treatment, a particular vitamin, facewash, etc. If that occurs you should stop your routine and see a derm!

I hope this information helps! Good luck!

I don't know if you have tried pro-active or not... someone else mentioned it and I am sure you have heard of it.

EVERY PERSON I KNOW THAT HAS TRIED IT NOW HAS AMAZING SKIN. I have never had acne too bad- but many of my friends have had it and it worked wonders.

I haven't heard one bad thing about it.
Anyhow- I can tell you I have personally witnessed at least 10-15 people in my life who have cleared up their skin and attribute it to pro-active.

If you haven't given it a shot- why not try it.

Accutane has side effects.... just research them if you decide to try it.

I have heard/seen that the birth control pill does wonders. I had a friend who had a bad case of acne- people would cruelly call him pizza face. He went to the dermatologist and the doctor put him on the birth control pill. Amazing. All cleared up miraculously. So, my advice would be to go to a dermatologist and ask him about it.

He was a great guy but I wouldn't date him because of this. BIG MISTAKE it was!!!

I would have to say that it is worth considering the hormone angle, now that I think about it. I would have trouble with breakouts every month and now that my hormones are dead (chemical menopause), my skin is completely and utterly smooth. Not a single pimple of any sort anywhere on my body.

You know, I kind of wondered if LanaLots and Lovely44 are both the same person working for Clearly Gone. Just kidding. Sort of. You never know.
