I'm embarrassed to post this...because im embarrassed to tell people how much i weigh...
Before i met my ex i'd got down to 9 stone which i was happy with and was planning on loosing a little more.
Since things ended with the relationship i've gone up to just above 10 stone and im only small...and it shows and i hate it.
Problem is i normally need something to motivate me to stick to a diet and now i've found it.
I've been invited to a bit of a posh birthday party and its all tuxedo's and slinky revealing dresses....and it's not every day i get to go to one of those!
I would like to be able to wear a slinky revealing dress and feel comfortable about my body in it. Especially when the i really fancy the birthday guy
I'd like to get down to 9 stone or 8 and a half. I've got 6 weeks and 6 days till the event....does anyone know if i'd be able to acheive that in the time i have...because im no good with the in's and out's of weight loss and time scale etc etc?

I have no clue what stones are but you don't have to share with us your weight if you don't want to.
I am no expert, but all I can say is to watch what you eat and do plenty of jogging.
Stay away from fried foods. Stick with grilled and eat plenty of fruits and veggies.

Well, again, no idea what stones are...but, I will share my year long weight loss tips. First, I am male, 30, and as of last june weighed about 210. At my biggest I was 267. I am now around 170.
My wife and I hired a personal trainer who had a 100% promise we would lose inches and weight. He also calculated our BMI for real with the fat pinch thing (very uncool and humiliating) and prepared a portion list and suggested diet.
I walk for 1 hour 6 days a week keeping my heart rate between 145-158. I eat grilled foods with lots of seasonings (low salt) and whole wheat pasta, brown rice. I also drink between 1 and 2 gallons (8 liters) of water throughout the day.
I can tell you that eating less will allow your body to lose muscle, but that eating more healthy foods with exercise will allow you to maintain muscle and loose fat. I went from a 38 inch waist to a 34. Alos remember, weight is not a good determiner of health, fat to muscle ratio is.
I'm not far from London land and i forgot the majority of people on here are from america or canada lol
Nevermind, i'll just stick to healthy eating and excersize...can only loose what i can at the end of the day. Thankyou anyway guys
Don't mention it.
Another thing is that you should try to stick to water only. Stay away from soda and stay away from alcohol, well that is cruel. Just be sure to limit alcohol consumption.
6 weeks is actually a pretty short time, and i'm guessing 10lbs (erm, a little under 1 stone?) would be kind of pushing, health wise.
read those posts. maybe they will give you some ideas. and as always, the secret to weight loss is to eat less, eat better (read: healthy), and to exercise more.

Do cardio daily...walking, running or something like that. Also try to do some weights as well but definately cardio. Eat high fiber and lean protein and fruits and vegatables. Stay away from processed foods and desserts---things loaded with white flour and sugar. Drink low cal drinks or water.
Don't starve yourself...eat till you're full. Try to eat small meals more often if that suits you. Don't consider it going on a diet. Consider it a lifestyle change.

Don't worry so much about achieving your exact weight goals by a deadline. Weight isn't a very good indicator of overall health anyway and if you set a goal you aren't likely to achieve you'll just get discouraged. On the other hand, if you commit to a healthy lifestyle with a clean diet and regular exercise, you big goal changes to a series of little ones: to live healthy each day. These are far more manageable, and if you continue to meet them, you'll get your results.
Six weeks is plenty of time to see some changes in your body. Diet is very important, but the goal is not to starve yourself. You'll need to consume enough calories to maintain your metabolism, and enough protein to keep feeding your muscles. If you are serious about this, you can try logging what you eat on a site like fitday.com, which will give you a breakdown of where you get your calories each day. 40% protein is a good number to aim for - and surprisingly hard to achieve.
Besides watching your diet, you'll also need to do cardio to burn the fat - jogging, elliptical, kick boxing, swimming- anything that gets your heart pumping. HIIT - high intensity interval training - is best for weightless. Borrowed from Wikipedia:
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is an exercise strategy that is intended to improve performance with short training sessions.
A HIIT session involves a warmup period, several short, maximum-intensity efforts separated by moderate recovery intervals, and a cooldown period. The period of alternating effort and recovery intervals typically lasts a total of 15 minutes.
It hurts, though. I can't do it. No matter how long I spend psyching myself up, 20 seconds into the sprints I give up and begin to jog. But, any cardio is better than none.
The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism, so if you want to make it easier on yourself to maintain the weight loss, it might be important to lift weights in conjunction with the cardio. Make sure you push yourself when you are lifting - lift as heavy as you can for 10-12 reps - so heavy you almost can't finish. Do 3 sets of each. Work each body part one day a week - legs Mondays, for example, chest + triceps Wednesdays, back + biceps Fridays.
I'm no expert, though. Everything I know I learned from my little bother, who was severely overweight (~250 at 5'8, age 16) until, one day, he decided to lose the fat and get buff. He did it, too.
