Right after the wedding...?

I'm getting married at the end of September. We're going to be taking a 2-week vacation to a warm place in the winter, and we're going to call that our "honeymoon." However, I'm thinking that I want to take some time after the wedding to relax and enjoy each other, and let it sink in that we just got married. So I have 2 questions for people who have been through it, or are anticipating going through it:

1. Am I not realistic for thinking some sort of euphoria happens after the wedding, and that you want some time alone to enjoy each other?

2. Either way, how much time do you think is good? Is it weird to be back at work 3 days later?

Any insight welcome!

We took our honeymoon directly afterwards and I'm glad that we did. It's not because of the euphoria, (although we were giddy). I'm glad because we had a chance to recover from the exhaustion. The whole week of the wedding was a lot of fun, but there was a ton to do, and emotions were high the entire week, which is the perfect formula for exhaustion. We laid by the beach asleep for the majority of the first 3 days of our honeymoon, and it was awesome to be able to relax and let it all sink in without a laundry list of things to do, and people to talk to. Just the two of us.

As unromantic as it sounds, how fast you go back to work will depend for the most part on how many days off you can afford. If you are taking 2 weeks later on, you may not be able to take any days off. Then I'd just say plan to stay in bed the entire day after the wedding. If you can take off some days, 2 will probably be enough if you aren't traveling, but just hanging around the house trying to figure out where to put all the gifts.

Congrats on your engagement, and I hope the wedding goes well!
