my boyfriend and I are from different parts of town (his lower class, mine upper) and we were raised completely differently. I'm 19, he's 21, we've been together for 1.5 yrs.

When I met him he was not in college. His parents have never pushed him to do anything and didn't care about his grades in high school. He works awful full-time jobs (landscaping, mowing lawns, etc). I'm about to be a sophomore at a prestigious college. I pushed him once to begin college. He said he's "never been so motivated in his life". He took one class and decided school is not for everybody, and not for him. He said I was a horrible person for trying to get him to give up his lifelong dream of being a cop.

So, I supported that. I got him to fill out the application. His test was today (written and physical). He had not previously tested himself to see if he could do everything on the test. Thus, he failed it today. When I was upset he said "**** you" and that I should support him no matter what. I asked him about his future and he said "I will find something shut up." He expects a career to just fall into his lap. So college is out, his "forever dream" of a cop is out. He has no motivation for anything and nothing is a big deal to him. He never worries about the future. Is he going absolutely nowhere?

He is irresponsible (has called out fake-sick for work before, got fired from his only decent job for being late too many times) and has missed picking me up from work three times because he was sleeping.
