How do I tell him I just want to be mates?

Hi

There is a guy that I met through friends a few weeks ago. He's called me up a few times and we always have a great conversation (in fact I find him easier to talk to than anyone else I know). However I am not even remotely attracted to him. I've seen him out a couple of times since we met and he acts very keen, always trying to get one-on-one time with me, but I am just not at all interested.

But I'd like to keep him as a friend! He just handed in his PhD, he is obviously smart, and I am hoping he'll just "get the message" the more I reject his physical advances. But I dont want things to turn sour... How do I have that conversation with him without hurting his feelings?
