Question Have you ever "held back" your love because of distance..

Has anyone ever felt they were really in love with a person they'd known "online" but wouldn't say it or dare "cross the line" because you hadn't met them.?

You don't have to meet someone face to face just to know that you are in love with them. Aesthetics shouldn't be the deciding factor but who the person is on the inside. If you feel a certain way about someone you should just tell them. I was always under the impression that it is always the right thing to share positive feelings. If you are worried about the feelings not be reciprocated just think, "the answer is always no if you don't ask". Even if the person does not feel the same way, don't worry about it. If the person doesn't feel the same way, then you just gave them a huge compliment and move on or move on with however your relationship is now. I say just go for it...we only live once.

I would hesitate to use the word " love" with somone I had never met, and it would make me nervous if somone I had never met told me they loved me.

saying you have a really good feeling or vibe, that you feel a connection, those things would all be fine...... but love...???

I completely agree. Especially in light of my own experience in this matter. Which is why I'm on LS.

Long story short, I don't think distance should keep people from being in love. But that's down the line. it is not wise to think you're in love if you've never even met once.

Depends on if it's really "love" or just "crush" or "wanting/needing" someone. I fell for my current one, but I hesitated the first time I said I loved him too. Once we got together, that is when I really knew I loved him.

Sure you can be in love... in someone's personality traits they choose to display for you, in addition to the picture of them your mind creates.

Luckily for me, he lived up to my imagination.

I guess since 'I' am really weary of online dating..I would be hesitant to use the word 'LOVE' not having met the other person.

I mean you still could be talking to a 400 pound transvestite. ( nothing wrong with 400 pound transvestites if you are one..lol Just not my type. )

Saying you have a strong connection or plenty of things in common is ok but LOVE is such a strong word.

What if he always kicks his leg out to the right when walking? lol You can't tell by talking online.

I would probably hold off on saying it until you have met the person.

A very good friend of mine, with whom I went to high school, moved away shortly after high school. I chickened out while she was here and then she moved away. We are still great friends and all, but yeah I do blame geographical distance for not allowing us to get together, at least later on.
