mixed signals

Hi all,
I just need to vent and I thank you for listening! One of those same old stories but it's always nice to hear what friends have to say

Why do people send mixed signals? The guy I was dating for a year and a half basically started ignoring me since February/March. (I don't know the exact reasons why, and I didn't ask, from one previous experience, once I started being ignored, I stopped contact as well and, as much as it hurts, it was the way I found to get some 'closure' if you can call it that.)

But now he keeps texting me saying 'why do I turn my phone off?' with smiley faces like and sometimes he calls out of nowhere to ask how am I doing? I just don't get it and I don't know how to act. I know it sounds silly, and there must be a 1000 threads like this...but I just had to share, it makes me feel better just to write it down.

Thanx! Have a Happy Easter everyone!

My gut tells me he had met another girl and was occupied with her. When it didn't pan out, he suddenly had time for you all over again and is playng dumb as if he didn't do anything wrong by avoiding you. You can either let him play you like that or else what I would do is ignore him and lose contact with no explanation just like he left you hanging until he acknowledges and admits he was avoiding you instead of playing dumb about it and waiting for you to either go along that everything's ok or for you to bring anything up.

Thanks FunBMe,
Since you mentioned 'trust my guts', that's what I've been doing!
I don't accept these texts just to 'check on me' so I go NC.

MY guts tell me that he's in his party phase, last year of college. And since he's only been with 2 girls his whole life, I'm sure he feels the need for some disgustingly crazy 'party phase', when he can meet as many girls as he wants AND hangs out with his guys 24/7.

I didn't expect him to not have his buddies around or to never have a guy night out but when someone gives the guys way more priority than the girl, and ignores her, it shows there's something wrong. I'm out. But I just needed some words to reflect on. Thanks again!

I'm sure if he had talked about it with you, and told you that he wanted some time to spend with his buddies and forwarned you that he would not be around as often, as an understanding girlfriend you'd consent and appreciate he told you and in the meantime he'd be in contact with you calling now and then letting you know what he was up to.

The fact that he just disappeared means that whatever he was up to, included things that he didn't want you to know about such as getting together with other girls. He left you hanging without a desire to keep in touch with you and didn't care that you were feeling hurt and left hanging. He has his fun and sees the other girls don't come close to what you have to offer, so then like a snake he slithers back into the scene acting like nothing happened and expects you to go along with it! I hope you have some self respect and not take that. He does it once and it's a sure sign of cheating in the future especially if he sees how easily he'd have gotten away with it.
