Can it run in the family?

My sister is 30 years old, and was diagnosed with Schizophrena when she was 18, after she had some tramatic things in her life happen in which she become out of touch with reality and stayed that way.

I'm 25 and we have a younger brother who is 21. My question is, can things like this run in the family? My brother doesn't care for crowds although I'm not sure this is just a preference of his, or if its a disorder of some kind. I can be pretty inpulsive with my thought patterns and once I have made up my mind on something thats it, no changing it. I also can hold a grudge like no bodys business. And I have been told by friends that I read way to much into things.

Maybe some of that is just stubborness, but my questions mainly is, if my sister has the mental disorder can it run in my family and are me and my brother at risk for certain things?
