Drinking and Lying

Hey

I've noticed that when I'm out drinking, I tend to lie. Some of these lies are big and some are small. I don't intentionally set out to lie, i just wake up the next morning remembering all of the porkies I told. I dont do it with anyone in particular or to make myself look better - in fact some of the lies make me look worse! I feel like there is a switch in my brain that get flicked after my fifth drink and I just come out with all these untruths (which are mostly about myself). Little things from where I've been that night to bigger things like how many relationships Ive had. I dont know why i do it and I want to stop before people start to catch on to my weirdness.

Anyone else have a similiar experience or can shed light on this?? It's starting to get very embarresing and stressful!

I've never personally had this problem myself, but my father does. Well its not exactly, but close. My father is a pathalogical liar normal, when he used to drink it was worse. Unfortunately for my father he waited to long to talk to a doctor about it and lost alot of friends and family. (Including me).

You said that you know that after your fifth drink it starts coming out. May I suggest only have four drinks if you are planning on being out in public? I'd really just cut back if you know that at 5 you will be a lie machine. Otherwise you could try talking to a doctor and see what they suggest. I have a feeling that s/he might tell you to lay off the booze though.

Good luck with that.

If you are noticing that your drinking is causing you problems.. ie: lying then you need to quit drinking so much or quit drinking all together..

You might look into the fact that you have a drinking problem if you do this quite a bit..

Stop drinking. Solves the problem, hopefully.

Me on the other hand, I swear, laugh, and have a very bad dirty mouth. I'm very loose with my language. For some reason I can make people laugh. Of course their probably laughing at me but hey at least I'm not an angry drinker.

Now I'm only like this if I had to much and that's usually when my H says "okay...no more for you." lol!!

Here's an idea...

You have to balance what's better....your rep? your drinks?....stop either having a good rep (continue to drink)...have a good rep (stop drinking...so much at least).

That's the easy way!

Thats nothing. When I am drunk I am the best dancer, singer and comedian in the world. I am also the hottest, smartest, sexiest woman in the world, and and and then I wake up with a headache.
