If you get a message and you like his picture, does it really matter what he says, as long as it's nothing obviously too pathetic.. I guess what I'm asking is that if you're attracted to the guy then all his worrying about what he should say is pointless because it doesn't matter to you what he says right? What's important, at least in your mind, is that he just SAYS something so that the ball can get rolling. Anything.

Um, no, not really. Actually it depends on the kind of girl and her age. A decent girl with half a brain will of course care about what you have to say. You can be attracted to a guy and give him stares in a bar, but if he approaches you with some dumb line that can be a total turn off. That's unless the girl's been eyeing you for a while and she knows of you through some friends or something. So if she's really after you then chances are she already has a good image of you, and thinks youre a good guy, so there I don't think you can really screw up. But if you just met her then you better have something interesting to say.
